I'm one of the PPs whose family eats ice cream once or twice a week. We're all "medium" weight -- neither fat nor thin -- and in healthy shape, with regular exercise and decent muscle tone. We have 1 kid and are comfortable financially, so cost isn't a factor in that decision.
I truly can't relate to those who claim they're never tempted by ice cream...but I envy you! |
And pass out apples on Halloween. Or fruit leather, if feeling particularly indulgent. |
|
Maybe 3 or 4 times a year I'll take DD out for frozen yogurt. Once or twice a year I'll buy her one of those individual serving sizes of ice cream from the supermarket - usually Ben & Jerry's or HD.
Each year after the first day of school we go out for frozen yogurt. |
Seriously? Not pp, but the kids allowed to shovel ice cream in their mouths on a nearly daily basis are the ones to feel sorry for. American gluttony is disgusting. And I'm American. |
excuses excuses…. you could buy ice cream to eat at home or even make them at home for your kids! |
A cannoli! (New Poster, not pp to whom you were responding) |
Hey OP, where is this sub zero that you speak of? |
+1 I love ice cream and we go several times a month. But, please, don't feel sad for my kids because they don't have ice cream 5 times a week (5???). That just seems crazy. I don't care how healthy you eat otherwise, that's just excessive. |
OMG...YES! Cannoli!!! -(PP with the 4 kids) |
| when we go go an ice cream shop that charges by the scoop versus the weight like fro yo place we usually just get one big sundae for the family and split it. Much cheaper than having everyone get a $4 individual cone because if you notice the base price is like $4 but additional scoops are only about $1 . |
How fat are you?

I can't believe how many unhealthy people there are on this board!
We get frozen yogurt about once a month. When on vacation, which is actually fairly frequently, we get ice cream about every other day. We frequently have homemade fruit popsicles or banana "ice cream" at home. |
Ice cream used to be a treat, which means once in a while like twice a year not twice a week! No wonder kids are fatter and fatter. |
|
I can't believe people waste calories on fro yo. That stuff is just plain nasty.
Count me in for the gelato or real ice cream though! |
| Treats are only for once a year? That's not a treat. |
