How often do you go out for ice cream

Anonymous
We have ice cream probably 2x/week on average in the summer, but typically as a dessert in a restaurant, rather than as a separate stop. (No i.c. place in walking distance from our house.) On vacation, it's closer to every day.

Growing up, my dad instituted a rule that you go our for i.c. whenever something great happens for the first time, and I look forward to carrying on that tradition with my own family. For me, it's equal parts sentimental and delicious.

I despise frozen yogurt. It is gross!

But, I do LOVE ice cream. We go once a week.

Wasted calories? They're not wasted, they're yummy. What would you rather have than ice cream?

Plus 1.

We eat it 2 or 3 times a week at home, it's too expensive to go out. I buy the fancy organic kind from Yes market and it is SO GOOD

Maybe once a week or less we buy a popsicle on the way to the park. We have gone once this summer to Baskin Robbins, it was great but messy

Once a week out, and once or occasionally twice a week more at home. But DH is an ice cream ADDICT, so we can never keep it around in the freezer more than a day or two max!

Froyo = yum!!

We go for froyo or ice cream about once a week but the kids also get popsicles at the pool or at home at least 2 other days as well. My kids eat healthy and are very active during the summer - ice cream is not going to ruin them.

You could go to Dolcezza, several of their gelatos are dairy-free. It's been great to have a nice option since I've cut out dairy while nursing my newborn. It's absolutely delicious.

Anonymous wrote:We go to Rita's a max of 1-2x's per month. DC is allergic to dairy, so we don't go to ice cream places at all. I LOVE Italian ice, but limit myself to the kiddie when we go.

I'm a pp that posted we go about 3-4 times per year.
After reading the responses, I'm curious about 2 things

1. Are you overweight? I'm curious how many of the multiple times per week responders are fit/healthy?

2. How many people are you buying ice cream for? I have 4 kids, and they are all older (elementary age and above.) Buying ice cream cones for 6 people runs at least $20--and that's just for basic cones--not sundaes, shakes, etc. If we went out for ice cream several times per week, that' would be several hundred per month on ice cream!

You sound vain and cheap.
So what, spend $20 and go twice a week.
Big deal.

Less than once a year.

I'm not a fan of ice cream. DH and the kids eat ice cream at home.

We're a family of 4. I'm 121 pounds at 5-2, so maybe 5 lbs over my ideal, but not fat. I work out (elliptical or run) 4-5 days per week. DH is at perfect weight for his height and works out 3-4 days per week, but also plays golf and tennis.

We have ice cream out 3-4 times per week. Kids are 3 and 5. Toppings are allowed. As are fun cones.

What do I make money for if not to enjoy my life?

PP again - my kids are 40-50th percentile for wt and 60-75 for height.

Lucky you - the idea of not being able to afford $20 per ice cream outing didn't occur to you, or worse, maybe it did, but you prefer to insult people instead anyway!

Charming, really charming.

Karma...

You don't have $20?
Shouldn't have had four kids.
