Are Boys Bullied for being Uncircumcised?

I have a JD. DH holds an MBA in finance. Our son is circumcised.

Ever heard of a daily shower?

....or q-tips for your ears? Hygiene is a good thing.

Guys do not spend that much time starting at each other's penises in the locker room, they just don't.

I don't really care how you feel about circumcision one way or the other, but I wish people could actually have a conversation about it without resulting to myths, stereotypes, and unfounded conjecture.

Are you a man. If not, how much time have you spent in the male locker rooms?

Educated - really. You are obviously the bully. Glad I am a Jew.

What's your problem today? Nothing wrong with observing your faith, imo. Sorry if that offends you.

There was a lot offensive about your statement, pp. Not the least of which was the inference that Jews are uneducated. Shame on you. Stop trolling.

If anything, educated parents are more likely to circumcise. It's the dumb crunchy mama emos who would refuse.

Can you read? Not the PP, and I agree that implying that only uneducated people were circumcising was rude. However, the literal grammatical meaning of the PP's sentence is that the only educated people who are circumcising are Jewish.

Yes, thank you. I stated my opinion. Anyone is welcome to disagree. It's ok.

Men I know have agreed that as they weighed whether or not to circumcise their sons, the thing that finally pushed them to circumcise: They are hoping their sons will get more oral sex by being cut then they would uncut.

These are college educated professional white men in their 40s.

DH talks about how the only uncircumcised boy in boarding school was teased ruthlessly. Granted, that was in the early 90s. As much as the anti-circ people try to claim that almost no one circs these days, I strongly disagree. Everyone I know has circumcised their sons. I can also say that when I substituted at our preschool (whose families are almost all affluent and educated) I noticed that all the boys except one were circumcised, so it's still seems to be the norm in this country. And as unfortunate as it is, kids still tease other kids for being something different than the perceived norm.

Have so few of you slept with an uncircumcised man? The penis doesn't look any different when it's erect. I honestly can't say that any of my uncirc'ed boyfriends had hygiene issues, either.

In many parts of the country 90 percent of parents still circumcise their boys. So if you ever move from DC, your kid could indeed find he's ostracized.

This thread is probably why I should not read DCUM! DH is circ'd and my DS is not circ'd. We didn't think there was any reason to cut him at birth and our pediatrician agreed that there was no proof one way or the other about benefits. But I don't want my poor DS to be smelly and unwanted by women because of his penis! We never even thought about that. Those women on this board who have slept with uncirc'd men, please speak up and tell us the truth. Are the people saying that uncirc'd penises are dirty and smelly got anything going for them?

Not the PP, but my high school aged, multisport playing, experienced locker room using son recently had a conversation with his pediatrician about his uncircumcised penis. When he discussed it with me, it became obvious that he had never noticed a difference between his penis and any of his peers. Given the number of orthodox and conservative bar mitzvahs he attended a few years ago, I have to conclude that he's been in a locker room with a few circumcised boys, but I guess he never looked. I also assume that none of them ever looked at his, or if they did they didn't think it worthy of comment.

I have trouble believing that bullying on this issue is a widespread problem.

What states have circumcision rates of 90%? The highest rates I could find were in the 80's, the lowest was 11%. It seems like if you're worried about moving, you could run into problems either way.

That's messed up. Would a mother get her daugher cut down there(fgm) b/c she might get more oral sex?
