Are Boys Bullied for being Uncircumcised?

Anonymous
I watched a documentary recently about a man with a much smaller than average penis size. He didn't realize that he was abnormally small until a girlfriend pointed it out. He was asked if he had ever compared himself to other guys in locker rooms, and he said no because now most young guys wear shorts, even in the shower.

I don't know much about young guys in locker rooms, but this made it seem like completely undressing in front of others after gym class, etc is not as common as it once was.

My DS is not circumcised and is a high school kid. He's never been bullied about it, to my knowledge.

Way back when our kids were of an age where we discussed such things, the moms I knew indicated that a little over half of the boys were not circumcised. This is in crunchy Silver Spring/Takoma Park, so YMMV, but I don't think he will stand out, no pun intended.

I just asked my 22 year-old son this. He said, "Tell them nobody cares."

Educated - really. You are obviously the bully. Glad I am a Jew.

What's your problem today? Nothing wrong with observing your faith, imo. Sorry if that offends you.

There was a lot offensive about your statement, pp. Not the least of which was the inference that Jews are uneducated. Shame on you. Stop trolling.

If anything, educated parents are more likely to circumcise. It's the dumb crunchy mama emos who would refuse.

Can you read? Not the PP, and I agree that implying that only uneducated people were circumcising was rude. However, the literal grammatical meaning of the PP's sentence is that the only educated people who are circumcising are Jewish.

Yes, those are the unfounded cultural beliefs that support the practice of circumcision. Nothing to do with OP's question, though.

I actually asked my older boys as well. They both said the same thing. No one cares and it's not like guys stand around staring at each other's junk.

In America we have money to circumcise because it is healthier and not stinky. It is low class to not circumcised.

They get STD from having unprotected sex. Nothing to do with the question.

Ever heard of a daily shower?

My kids both change for PE in a locker room...

1. No one ever takes off their underwear. Showers after PE haven't happened since the 80s.

2. You're more likely to get bullied for looking at someone's penis than for what yours looks like.

No. The circumcision rate where I live (in CA) is 40% - and the circumcised are becoming a minority across the US. My DH (from another country) is uncirc-ed, but he went to HS/college in the US and was never bullied - in fact, I don't think anyone has ever mentioned it to him - guys don't really check out other guys packages in the locker room.
