Yep, that would be Bill Clinton. No doubt he was busy with his "cigar" in the oval office. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/14/hank-crumpton-cia-clinton-bin-laden_n_1514895.html |
Interesting re-write of history. Do you actually remember the political climate at that time? Not to mention, he did attempt to get Osama, but his options were quite limited. They left the Bush team with plenty of information...which they chose to ignore. WTC happened under his watch, not Clinton's. Plus, when it did happen, they wanted to blame Iraq. I have it on good authority that a seal team was sent to track Osama after 9/11. They found him, and still were not given the order to shoot. The person who told me this left the military right after that - a career soldier and staunch republican. He left his military career because he couldn't figure out what the hell he was there for if not to capture or kill that bastard. So, I still say to you - your cowboy didn't actually have the cojones. |
Iirc it was 100 lbs that he wanted to lose. 50 after weight surgery sounds about right. |
Bush didn't read the memo: |
this article isn't as damning as you want to believe. It says very clearly that the drones didn't have the capabilities they do now. Getting the missiles ready to fire would have taken hours. And, try to remember your history about when our ground forces attempted to take someone out earlier in Clinton's preseidency - he did NOT want another Somalia. Does it suck that we had him in our sights and couldn't get him? yes. But I truly don't think Clinton in any way was being a pansy - that was the reality of our capabilities at the time. |
Bam! |
Humpty-Dumpty cannot be president, sorry. |
Nope. Stayed right there on the ranch in Crawford, clearing brush. And their national security priority remained building Star Wars. Those Clintonites were warning about Al Qaeda being the priority? Shows what they know. Reason enough to ignore them. And if any Dem says a word about this after it happened? Pound them hard for politicizing an attack on the US. Until the 2002 midterms anyway, when we'll begin politicizing 9/11 for the rest of two terms. |
Disagree. He had the opportunity to have our very capable people take him out, but he didn't give the order. |
| Do you have evidence to back up your disagreement? |
Read the article at the link above. |

As I recall, he gave several orders. Missed him at a desert camp. Destroyed a pharma factory that was thought to be a weapons factory. He may have missed, but it wasn't for lack of taking the shot.
And at the time, Repubs said he was just making it up to distract from a blow job scandal, and made fun of him for shooting million dollar missiles at ten dollar tents. OK, we missed then. But he recognized the threat, and addressed it responsibly. He didn't try to do it on the light and the cheap like the Cheney chickenhawks. |
+1 Anyone who thinks otherwise apparently had their head up their ass until 9/11 happened. I don't know how anyone could disagree that the capabilities and political climate just were NOT there for a full on attack to get this guy. MAYBE after the USS Cole bombing, but that was right as the election was happening, too. |
| Christie hugged Obama. The republican party will never take him back. |
| Obama has effed up so much that Christie would win in a landide. |
