Chris Christie scares me

Anonymous
I'm a center-left Democrat, have voted Democrat since I became old enough in the Reagan era, voted for Obama twice and still support him. I think Republicans are extremist, lying, incompetent, corrupt, and concerned only with the interests of the rich and the religious right. They have made a wreck of our country, as hard as they can, every time they've held power in my lifetime.

And I gotta say, I like this guy. I really do. I'm scared of how broad his appeal could be in two years.

Not too worry. The current crazy wing of the GOP will keep him out of the nomination.

his temper will get him in the end, as well as his rino status.

And I hate to say it, but I don't know that america will elect a fat guy in this modern media age.

My wife and I were just talking and we would not be miserable if he was governor of our state.

He should be getting skinnier, he had his stomach stapled a year or so ago!

I don't know. I don't trust him. I still think he's trying to play up to a GOP image, and is a coward in the face of social issues.

Maybe he really thinks women don't deserve reproductive rights. Maybe he really doesn't believe in marriage equality. I'm straight, but I come from mixed parents who got married just 3 years after Loving v. Virginia. I'm also female. I just could not ever vote for someone who doesn't support the essential values of citizen equality, and the right to have dominion over my very own body.

Thank you for the reassurance. You sound like someone I'd like to have lunch with.

I totally agree with you. While he may be "likeable" he is still quite right leaning on issues that are so important to me.

In his interview with CNN yesterday, he said that he's "a little more than halfway" to his goal. That could not have been a very big goal?

Correct. Christie is very conservative, including on social issues. What he's not is a crazy religious nutbag, so a lot of people think he's a moderate.
