How much do you weigh & What size do you wear? Vanity Sizing?

Wow, I'm surprised. I'm 5'9" 140lbs and wear a size 8. Doesn't match up well with most of the responses here -- women who are shorter than I and weigh more than I wearing same size. Interesting!

5'4" 105lbs
Currently size XS, 0, 00, in the US (Anthro, for ex) or size 2 for Boden, 34 to 36 for France (Cyrillus, for ex). Some of it is still too large, though.

I fit into a lot of my clothes from 10 years ago (pre-kids). The american tags say size 4!

10 years - 4 sizes difference!

In another 10 years, I will. not. find. clothes.

5'8", 160, size 6/8 depending on the brand. I've also naturally got a lot of muscle mass; when I lift weights, I look like The Hulk.

5'4", 110 pounds, size 2-6 in pants, anywhere from xs - medium in tops (broad shoulders), anywhere from 0-4 in dresses. A European Size 8 or 10 fits pretty much all the time, so I call vanity sizing on the U.S. big time.

I feel like when I was in college I weighed less than I do now, but could rarely squeeze into a 6. I always wore an 8. A size 4/6 sounds skinny to me, but 5'5" and 150 does not. I suspect vanity sizing and that my college clothes in a size 8 would fit fine now, but that a current 6 is what an 8 was back then. Anyone else?

What do you weigh and what size do you wear? Do you see evidence of vanity sizing in current fashions?

Interesting. i too am 5'5" and even when i weight 150 i wear a size 8. i am currently 170lbs post pregnancy and wear a 12-14. Muscle tone had a LOT to do with it. Muscle is a lot more dense so while 2 people can weigh the same, the one who has more muscle will be smaller in size. Same reason why someone may lift weights and not lose weight but still lose inches.

me too exactly. I am actually closer to 5' 10" and right now hovering around 152. I prefer to be at 145. I am 140 some years but that's when I have serious dedication to not socially drinking or eating bread ( I always exercise no matter what). My 8s right now are tight.

you would think I would be a smaller size, no go. I am an apple shape.

I'm in this camp too. I'm 5'7", weigh 145, and most pants/skirts fit me in a 10. I think I could wear an 8 in terms of most of my body, except my waist and butt. I'm trying to get to 140 and am hoping that's where I lose it!

I'm having a hard time believing that. A woman who's 30 lbs more than pp and several inches shorter wearing the same size doesn't add up to "muscle mass." Something's off. I think it's where they're buying clothes and the vanity sizing. I don't think these women have the same waist measurements.

If anything, this whole thread should teach us to not worry about what size clothing we wear - clearly there are so many factors that determine which size will fit us. Weight is only a little part of it. This is sort of liberating, don't you think?

here is an image comparing 5lbs of fat to 5 lbs of muscle.

People can also carry weight differently. like having a large chest that won't impact pant size.

5'5, 145.

I swear I have everything from a S to an XL and a 6 to a 12 and a 29 to a 32 in my closet. I've given up trying to figure it out.

My friend is two inches shorter and ten pounds lighter and she wears a size 14.

I wear a size 27 in Jeans.
In the US, I can only wear petite sizes (regular sizes never see to have a reasonable fit). My usual size in Banana Republic is 4P. I remember being a 6P at Ann Taylor 15 years ago, and now (after gaining 2 pounds and 2 kids and having no time to exercise), their 4P is too large.
