How much do you weigh & What size do you wear? Vanity Sizing?

I'm 5'6" and 145 and wear and size 8 bottom in most brands (J Crew, Banana, Madewell, Old Navy). Dress size 6 and these days always a Small when clothing is sized XS/S/M/L.
I wear size 29 jeans.

I actually think Banana Republic runs small--it's the only store I've purchased a Medium at in years and I never wear under an 8 in pants where I often wear a 6 at the Gap. Now Ann Taylor Loft and Lands End are super sized. I'm about a 4 and XS at both.

5'7" 190 lbs. size 18. Very pear-shaped. I can wear an L in shirts, depending on brand, but usually XL. Dresses are impossible because I'm so much smaller on top and things fall off my shoulders.

anyhow most of my old clothes (from 5/7, 130 lbs) fit, just not as well. I'm a size 2-4.

Seriously thats some bullshit. I am 111lbs and a petite 0-2. You must looked like a stuffes sausage in a 2. Sorry lady not buying it.

Thanks PP. I find the need to lie on an anonymous forum while I waddle around looking like a sausage.

5'4" 130lbs. Size 4 in J Crew etc. When brands offer it, I'll go for the 'curvy' fit for pants.

I can't afford designer clothes so I have no idea what that translates to in non-vanity sizing.

This is me too, the curvy pants usually fit perfectly, size 4 or occasionally sze 2. It still suprises me though because I grew up thinking my weight was on the heavier end for height. What made the difference for me was running - in high school I was 10lbs more and size 8-10, running made my body more proportional and clothes fit better from then on. At 120 lbs my period stops and I look gaunt, that never made sense to me.

It's not just vanity sizing, but I can be different sizes in the same designer - this is the most annoying thing. I started cutting the tags out after I purchase stuff so I don't get all blue, as I can wear between a 8-12 depending on where I bought the item or who makes it.

I don't know what vanity sizing means.

We must be body twins. I was also heavier as a teen and permanently dropped the weight by taking up jogging. I ran a few marathons in my 20s and whenever I was in training I would drop to the 120 range. At that weight, I look unhealthy skinny - my collarbones protruded out and some friends were actually worried I had an eating disorder. They were shocked when I told them how much I actually weighed. I think I just have a larger body frame that needs the extra meat to look healthy.

We probably are very similar -- very athletic build and easy to increase muscle mass. I wear a size 9 - 9.5 shoe, bigger hands than an average build for my height. My mom is same height but more petite, must have gotten my girth from my 6" father. Go figure.

I remember a great site someone posted previously in a similar dialogue:

mybodygallery.com

shows the huge variation in body type for women based on height weight

5'6", 154 lbs., I wear a size 8. This thread is good. I didn't realize how many people my height are my weight. I think a lot of women must lie!
