Nickname for Evelyn

He-Evelyn and She-Evelyn. But also, they both pronounced Evelyn like this: EVE-a-lynn. Not EH-va-lynn, the way it's commonly pronounced now

Sorry, I did that wrong: EVE-lyn. Just two syllables.

I love the name Evelyn for a girl, but I find Evvy (Evvie? Evie?) as a written nickname kind of terrible. I don't mind it when someone's saying it - "Come here, Evvy!" - but it just looks ugly to me written out.

I totally disagree. "EV-ee" is a very, very common pronunciation for the nickname of Evelyn the way you're pronouncing it ("EV-uh-lin). If you write it out, people might mispronounce it, but that's not a big deal.

I am sorry but I am the original poster and I have never, ever in my life met anyone named Ev-ee. I have met Eveleyn's whose nicknames were Eve or Eve-ee, but never Ev-ee. Sounds ridiculous to me, sorry. Where do you people live? Is this the hot new name in Bethesda or something?

I'm confused. Your OP makes it sound like you want the nickname to rhyme with heavy. Then in your second post you say it's "ridiculous." ???

I know a girl who's nickname Evie rhymes with heavy. It's cute and suits her. I think "Ee-vee" sounds not great.

I have a friend named Evelyn and she goes by Evie (like heavy without the H) and I think it's a great nickname. It's pretty much her name though, as no one calls her Evelyn.

+1

And I LOVE the name Evie, so much so that I would steal it if my friend weren't named that.

We have an Evelyn and call her Evie like eevee. I think would have preferred Evie like the beginning of Evelyn but no one caught on to that. She goes by Evie 99% of the time

Well OP, What did you go with??

The woman I know whose real name is pronounced Evvie (not a nickname) spells it Evy.

My name is Evelyn and I never liked being nicknamed Ev or Evvy. I just wanted to be Evelyn.
