I totally disagree. "EV-ee" is a very, very common pronunciation for the nickname of Evelyn the way you're pronouncing it ("EV-uh-lin). If you write it out, people might mispronounce it, but that's not a big deal.[/quote]

I am sorry but I am the original poster and I have never, ever in my life met anyone named Ev-ee.  I have met Eveleyn's whose nicknames were Eve or Eve-ee, but never Ev-ee. Sounds ridiculous to me, sorry.  Where do you people live?  Is this the hot new name in Bethesda or something?[/quote]

I'm confused. Your OP makes it sound like you want the nickname to rhyme with heavy. Then in your second post you say it's "ridiculous." ???

I know a girl who's nickname Evie rhymes with heavy. It's cute and suits her. I think "Ee-vee" sounds not great. [/quote]
