My mom is Evelyn. She is Evelyn to pretty much everyone, but my dad will sometimes call her "Ev" (short E sound).
My mom's sister calls her "Eve," as in Christmas Eve, and it makes my mother batty. |
My name is Evelyn and i go by evie or lyn and i love it also my nefs called me evin
|
This. You only hear this BS on DCUM. |
| My childhood friend was Evelyn nn evie. It was super cute, and she's actually held onto the nn into adulthood. It fits her. |
|
I too have never heard Evy only Eevie.
Guess it depends on where you live and the circles you run in. |
| I know an Ehvee. |
|
I know 4 Evelyns.
Two are EH-vee and two are EVE-ee. The EH-vees are both above age 40 and the EVE-ees are under 10. |
|
We know 2 Evelyns under 5 who go by EH-vee. I believe both spell it Evy/Evie, but you could always double the v (Evvy/Evvie) to convey that the vowel is short.
We also know 2 EE-vees in the same age range, both of whom have the full name Eve. |
| I know an Eh-vee. I think it's spelled Evvy. I would prob go "ie" if I were doing it. |
| My cousin is Evelyn and goes by Lynnie, pronounced "Linny" |
| I'm sorry but the only nickname that makes total sense to me is Eve...like New Year's Eve. |
+1 for Evvy or Evvie, that eliminates the problem of mispronouncing as EEvie. Very sophisticated, too - like it! |
Evie is actually a very, very common nickname for Evelyn. Evelyn is becoming a more and more common little girls name and I know at least 2 little ones who go by Evie (and that is how they spell it). |
This is ridiculous, you've basically already given your child a complex about her weight.
|
He-Evelyn and She-Evelyn. But also, they both pronounced Evelyn like this: EVE-a-lynn. Not EH-va-lynn, the way it's commonly pronounced now |
