Why are all of you so cruel to short men?

Plenty of short women in the world. Tell him to look in countries where the women tend to be short (Asia?).

This guy is the perfect example

I am 5'5" and a few of my girlfriends are shorter and have husbands who are around their same size. I don't really think about it but, every once in a while, when I am around them or their families, I'll notice with a shock just how small these men really look. It's just kind of surprising to see such small proportions. People really are made differently. I am glad my friend and he are happy together but, back when I was dating, I admit it would have made me feel like an amazon.

I am a woman and my SO is shorter than me. I didn't notice for a really really long time. By then it was too late. I'm 5'7 and he's probably 5'5. He's sexy and a MAN. I would do it again too, I like Latino men and there are plenty of good, cute ones who are a little short.

FWIW, My mom is also taller than my dad. So am I actually. Ha.

Agree. There's so much to mock there, why pick on his height?

The only thing more absurd than people categorically excluding men for being short is the prevalence of 5'8" and 5'5 (my word!) women on this thread who consider themselves "tall." Yeah, you're slightly above average, but hardly tall.

Signed, 5'8" woman who has never felt even slightly Amazonian in her life. "Tall" is my 5'10 1/2" college roommate; "amazonian" is my gorgeous 6'0" friend.

Correct. When I mentioned 5'5", that was to give a sense of scale in comparison. So, if I am seeing men who are far smaller than I, and they LOOK super small, then you know, they are not just kind of small men. They are REALLY small men. Because yeah, in no way do I consider myself tall. No way, no how!

I've noticed that some short women have issues with being short so they try to date tall men, maybe so they can have tall kids. (then they complain if they have tall girls and not tall boys.) And some women I know see tall men as the gold standard and won't date short guys, even those who are still 4-6" taller than they are.

I'm 5'8". I've been this height since 5th grade when all the boys were about 4 feet tall. I felt gangly and awkward and weird, and to this day, I rarely date men who are shorter than me because it brings back that gangly/awkward/weird feeling. Luckily the average man is 5'9" so generally I can find a guy who is my height or slightly taller.

avg ht of 5th gr boys is 56" - 4'8". you're still a whole foot taller tho.

I can act like an aggressive idiot and it will be interpreted as boyish charm thanks to your inability to get over your need of height. The only time I even remotely regretted my actions was when I made a coworker leave his wife because I seduced her at a happy hour.

This is so true, unfortunately. I think it's pathetic how I'm immediately attracted to tall guys, but it is what it is, and most women are like me.

Thank you!

I'm from Holland and at 5'8 I am the shortest woman in my family. My brother (at 6'2) is considered the 'runt' of the litter. They blame it on my mother for marrying a 'short' American. My father is 6'0.

I'm 5'8". 5'8" feels tall when you have a lot of petite, short friends who are 5'2". It also feels "big" when you weigh 140 (perfectly normal for 5'8") but all your friends weigh 110. 5'8" also feels tall when you're growing up with a cheap mom who makes you wear hand-me-downs from your 5'5" cousin so your pants and shirt-sleeves are always too short. (and when the average pair of pants is made for a 5'4" woman.) so yes, I consider myself pretty tall at 5'8", even though I'm aware that a small percentage of women are taller than me.

So you'd cheat on your husband if a taller guy hit on you? Good to know. Just another reason not to marry my baby's mama.

OP, I'm sorry you have such a short son. As a 5'1 mother-to-be, that is my biggest fear. If there was a way to predict in utero whether or not you'd have a short son, I would consider abortion just because I really don't want to produce a shorty!

Ok, please tell me you are joking, because this is beyond sad.

I wouldn't have an abortion because you can't tell how tall he'll be. Plus DH is a whopping 6'5. But my father was a short man and he was incredibly cruel to our whole family. It justifies why I cannot stand short men. There's just something about them that is horrible.
