Why are all of you so cruel to short men?

My DS is only 5'4" at 18 and I feel that with all of the hate I've seen in this forum, he is destined for a life of loneliness...

I haven't seen anything on here against short men, but I haven't been looking.

Don't take DCUM as representative of real life. People on here are crazy.

We all have our own burdens in life. But don't worry. Ross Perot and George Stepanopolous (sp?) are very short men who were able to get married, have children, friends and nice careers. He should not let his height be his crutch or cause for a chip on his shoulder.

Don't worry. Just make sure he makes a lot of money and doesn't get married till he is 40. There will be plenty of desperate 35 year olds fawning over him at that point.

If he's smart and/or funny, he'll be fine.

I come from a very short family at 5'2 my brother is the tallest of my siblings. He never had any issues with being a short male, but he was an amazing athlete which helped a lot in his case. He's married with kids and has a great life. It's all in how he handles it

I'm not cruel to short men. I know many who were bullied/teased inside or outside of their families and have come out of that experience hostile and aggressive. Which is understandable but not something I enjoy being around. I'm a 6' tall woman, so the sexist message that a lot of short men were badgered with of "you're not a real man because you're short" gets turned around on me for being tall. Again, not interested in dealing with a sexist hostile guy looking to prove to the world that he's man enough.

I also have good friends who are short men and are delightful. One is married to a short woman and one is married to someone taller than he is. If you avoid the sexist b.s. about how boys will need to have something to "make up for" being short your son should be fine.

I like short men fine but I didn't want to marry one...I am 5'10 and a short man makes me feel huge and fat.

I agree with him waiting. Women don't have to be desperate, but their priorities do shift when they start thinking about a life partner.

This is the crux of it for most women, I would think. Most of them want to be smaller than their partners.

5'8 here married to 5'4 guy
No issues and he was never teased even had a lot of girlfriends.
He likes to joke we are all the same height on our knees.

A few of my (short) friends are married to men who are short. It's no big deal, but they all worry about their sons being short!

Encourage your son to spend a year abroad in Mexico or something in college. Some places he's just plain average.

One of the things I like best about my (short) dh is that he's very confident in his height and not at all insecure. I don't think he's experienced any shortism.

seriously, this is about you and your issues... hopefully your son is getting self confidence and positive messages and you are not projecting your fears onto him! posters on dcum are not always average or representative
