If you look up "douche" in the dictionary there is a picture of Tom Cruise. Not exactly making a positive case for short men. Plus he wears man heels. |
As a tall woman I can agree that any decent-looking, funny, and smart guy with a good smile who has a strong work ethic and is taller than me could absolutely pick me up in a bar. If that makes me low-hanging fruit, so be it. |
Look at his "work ethic", it's so strong I'm starting to get damp! |
Well, it's good to remember that short men were once teenagers with mothers who worried about them.
But I think we women are held to positively draconian appearance standards and are much more often found unlovable and/or unworthy of respect because of appearance-related "transgressions" than men. So I'm not feeling too sympathetic. OP's DS will be fine because at the end of the day, men can somehow command both love and respect even if they look like complete goofballs. |
When I look at a guy, I follow my principles:
If he's short, his part is short too. If he wears shoes size 9, his part will be short too. I prefer a guy that wears shoe size 11 1/2 to 12. Even if a short guy has a well equipped wallet, he won't have my attention. It's not cruelty, it's just a matter of preference. |
I knew a girl who was 5'0 who absolutely hated any guys below 5'10. She married a 6'3 former jock and had a son who grew to be no more than 5'4. |
As a 6'3/4 guy, I have to admit picking up you women is easy. I don't nearly have to try as hard as my short friends. I can act like an aggressive idiot and it will be interpreted as boyish charm thanks to your inability to get over your need of height. The only time I even remotely regretted my actions was when I made a coworker leave his wife because I seduced her at a happy hour. |
I can't deal with short men. It doesn't make me shallow. It's just like men who can't deal with obese women. Honestly, I don't care if a short man is "nice," rich, successful or whatever. I'm very happy with my big tall moody jerk thank you very much. Sometimes a girl just needs to be covered and its especially important that she can be able to wear heels! Biggest requirement of any potential relationship. |
all you need to know and it doesn't mater if you are fat, short, old or in a wheel chair

Weird, people think my red Curley hair is hot. |
Well, that is because you are 5'9" [img][http://www.ironmagazine.com/news/images/carrottop.jpg/img.ext[img] |
As a tall girl, this is not true. My asshole detector is not height-sensitive. |
I must have missed this outbreak of cruelty towards short guys . . . examples, please? |
There is low hanging fruit for all guys, but low self esteem is harder to spot when scanning the bar. |
OP - if your son is good-looking and in good shape and has a good personality, he will eventually find a nice woman. All my guy friends who fit that description found great wives.
I've noticed that some short women have issues with being short so they try to date tall men, maybe so they can have tall kids. (then they complain if they have tall girls and not tall boys.) And some women I know see tall men as the gold standard and won't date short guys, even those who are still 4-6" taller than they are. I'm 5'8". I've been this height since 5th grade when all the boys were about 4 feet tall. I felt gangly and awkward and weird, and to this day, I rarely date men who are shorter than me because it brings back that gangly/awkward/weird feeling. Luckily the average man is 5'9" so generally I can find a guy who is my height or slightly taller. |
