Totally agree. Discretion, foks, discretion.

I would be a used Vespa instead.

Why? What if you had the money and it wasn't a big deal to spend 1000? People are employed because other people are spending their money. Stop spending and those jobs are lost. This kind of thinking really makes little sense. It's not as if someone who can spend money is also not being charitable in other ways.

Just because you have $1000 to spend on a purse doesn't make it OK.

God what a horrendous thread full of bitter, judgmental have-nots. OP, buy a great purse. Enjoy your life!

There's always Rick Perry in 2012, PP.

Good luck casting your vote.

Do you buy anything other that the bare necessities for yourself and your family?

Yes? Then STFU.

And I'm a person who thinks buying a handbag would be a total waste of money... for me.

I have the $1000 to spend, I just don't because it's totally crass to do so in the current environment. I'm sure there are other things that I have that others could say that same thing about me, but this thread is about handbags. I see, however, that you don't seem to mind being crass with the whole "STFU" comment, so we'll leave it at that, I guess.

I love nice handbags. I have my eye on the flirt bag from Lancel and the square bag from the A/W collection of Lupo.

buy what you like. I'm sick of people telling other people what they should and shouldn't spend THEIR money on.

I hate that people feel they have to justify wanting to treat themselves to something they value (whether it be a handbag or a nice vacation).

Guess what? If I could afford that BMW I wanted today, I'd be at the lot right now.

If I could get that Epi bag I want, I'd have it.

If I could afford a nice 4 bedroom house on the Hill with a garage, I'd have a 20003 zip code.

And I'd enjoy it. If you can afford any of the above, congratulations! You have nothing to feel guilty about.

FYI, I'm normally a Coach gal, but I'm getting my big girl bag in a year or so. Next promotion!

by all means, you worked for your $, spend it as you will! just please don't espouse the "it helps the economy" line. it's not as though a $1000 purchase at neiman marcus is going to help the unemployed worker in alabama.

btw, it is really uncool to
joke about blood diamonds.
