And know that you can get a bag that looks exactly the same from the street vendors in Georgetown for $50. But go ahead, throw your money in the crapper.

They only look the same to people who don't know what real ones look like.

SO TRUE. I can absolutely tell fake bags. And personally I would be ashamed to buy one. Why try to pawn one off or admit to buying a fake one. Its trashy. I would rather buy a cutre Le Sport Sac then a fake bag.

I LOVE BAGS! I have 3 Chanel bags and yes they were expensive and they are amazing. OP- it might be over your price range. But there are many wonderful bags out there. Go scope out NM or Saks just to get an idea. I also love Jimmy CHoo and Prada but for leather it sets you back atleast $2k. If I had $10k I would get a Birkin Hermes bag. Amazing!

And screw the haters. People work hard, or hell, they dont. But they are justified in spending it however they want. Oh and to the posters saying to donate it...GET A LIFE! I donate in many other ways and I am not going to feel bad about spending money and luxury items if I can. You only live once, and I work hard. I like the finer things in life and I always will! Goodluck OP!

One time in 2000 I bought a fake kate spade bag off the street. I wore it one day and later found the Kate spade tag stuck to the side of my boob under my armpit...too funny. Lady if you have the money for a great bag get it. Enjoy.

I'd never spend $1k on a bag (or even on a ring), but I'm not going to shame those who do. Different priorities, different things we value. Get over yourselves.

You can sell a wedding ring and the price of gold can increase.

I second the Reed Krakoff bags! Love his stuff.

If you don't want a $1,000 bag, don't buy one!!! Perhaps spend the money on therapy instead to try to understand why you waste your energy judging other people's purchases.

Perhaps spend your money on therapy to try to understand why you waste your money on overpriced material goods.

So that's the real reason people spend thousands (or tens of thousands) of dollars on engagement/wedding rings? So they can sell them at a later date if the need arises?

Get real.

If treated well, you can also sell a used handbag. They are both frivolous purchases that people are entitled to make with their own money.

You spent 900 on this? Wow.

I just don't get it.

similar to some of the bags I've seen at Target

OP please buy something wonderful and unique, not a cheesy-ass logo bag like this.

For those of you who can affort a thousand dollar bag and purchase one, do they stay dry in the rain?!

I think some prada bags are really attractive. I also like LV. My most recent purchase was a beautiful Chanel bag. Sometimes I am a little self conscious about carrying expensive bags because I don't want to be stereotyped or judged. I would recommend staying away from a heavy logo bag. Bottega bags are gorgeous.

Right now I am on a Rebecca Minkhoff kick but that's because I have the more classic LV and Gucci styles. Depends if you are looking for classic or a little more trendy.

Love my Kooba bag. Can't remember the price though and I got it on sale anyway.

Agree. I have a weakness for nice LV bags and it is now my husband's go to present. FWIW, we can afford it so why not? I don't buy designer clothes, shoes, luxury cars, etc., and when my engagement ring was stolen, I didn't even bother replacing (just kept the check for $20k).

To each their own...

None of the bags posted on this thread are remotely attractive. Blech. Granny bags. Gold chain handles? *Pukes*

While I certainly appreciate a nice bag (I own more than a few by designers like Prada, Jimmy Choo, Marc Jacobs & Mulberry), I don't get the LV thing either. They're just not particularly pretty or fashionable in any way. And the logo display (even the check) is just so tacky that it makes me think the only reason anyone would carry a LV logo or check bag is so people will recognize it as expensive.

Was just about to post this same thing.
