If you could spend about 1k on handbag

Anonymous
For my 30th birthday a few years ago I bought myself a Louis Vuitton Saleya bag. It was the most decadent and over-the-top shopping experience of my life, and it was a total splurge. While I loved that bag, I did sell it about a year or so ago - I felt bad having a bag that cost almost as much as a month of daycare, especially since it was pretty much just sitting in my closet. If you have the money to spend, OP, I say go for it and enjoy it. It might be a good idea to visit a few high-end department stores to see several brands and styles in person if you don't have something specific in mind.

I agree about higher quality bags lasting longer and you do need one to carry every day.

That said, you can get a pretty nice Coach bag for half that.

OP, I say enjoy! You deserve the splurge. I love Prada bags. Or just go to some cool boutique, and get ideas. You may find something that you would not have thought of otherwise.

I love bags, but I agree that the excitement only lasts the first few times you carry it.. then you wonder why you ever spent that money on a bag.

But if you have the money, go for it and enjoy it.

It is so much easier though if someone would just buy the bag for me as a gift.. then I wouldn't have to waver on whether to return it or not.

Not for me. DH hates shopping, so an easy gift for him is to pop into NM, ask the saleslady to suggest a bag, then that's my gift. I always feel horribly guilty because I have never loved any of the bags he's given me and knowing how much he spent, I feel like I should totally love them. It would have been better if he had given me a gift card and demanded that I spend it on a handbag.

I have several LV bags (all in non-logo styles) that I have bought over the years and have to say they are so worth it. My first is 10 years old this year and still looks almost brand new. I love my friend's Neverfull - would buy that if I was in the market for a new one.

Gorgeous. I would get any one of these. I would steer clear of anything with a recognizable print or logo--cheezy.

I think the last one looks like a grandma bag.

A love a good bag, but in today's economic climate, I would feel ill spending that kind of money when there are so many people struggling to pay their light bills. 6 years ago I wouldn't have blinked. Today, it just seems crass. Sorry.

You spent 900 on this? Wow.

I just don't get it.

Yeah, but then you'd be carrying around a hideous Coach bag (haven't found anything decent-looking in that store in several years - bags are suited for the teenage crowd now).

I LOVE this bag. Was just at the LV store in Paris and I just love this pattern. Too bad its out of my price range. I bought a Ferragamo 10 years ago and it still looks brand new. Go for it OP, if that is what you want.
