You spent 900 on this? Wow.

I just don't get it.

similar to some of the bags I've seen at Target

While I certainly appreciate a nice bag (I own more than a few by designers like Prada, Jimmy Choo, Marc Jacobs & Mulberry), I don't get the LV thing either. They're just not particularly pretty or fashionable in any way. And the logo display (even the check) is just so tacky that it makes me think the only reason anyone would carry a LV logo or check bag is so people will recognize it as expensive.

thanks for letting me indulge in your handbag fantasy for a couple pages. i'm not into bags and really don't have the money to spend, but this made me smile. =)

I would get a LV Epi handbag. i've eyed them for years, but can't justify it in my mind. (but i can justify $$$ shoes no problem.)

Ignore the haters. It's your money.

Check out Reed Krakoff -- I think the editor bag is $1100, but the boxer bag is nice too.

Also Alexander Wang, Marni, Mulberry (honestly, I would get a Polly Pushlock in a heartbeat if I had the money -- it's $1500, but a Bayswater will run you $1050 and a Lily $750),

Rachel Nasvik (a little less pricey, but my Patricia bag has held up amazing well), Kooba, Hayden-Harnett ... all good brands, too.

I personally would not go the LV route, but that's because $1k won't get you a decent-size Epi bag.

I'd get a gucci. They have lots without logos. Don't listen to the haters OP, spend the money and know the bag looks great!

Thank you!! Best advice I have received in a long time. Great ideas and brands I was unaware of.

My mom splurged on an LV bag 25 years ago and the thing still looks great *and* she still uses it. That's value. I splurged about 7 or 8 years ago on a Bottega Veneta bag at a Neiman Marcus 'last call' sale - it was marked down to $250 or so from it's original 600. It is in great condition. I can't say the same for the relatively cheap $100 and $200 bags I buy once a year. They're in the garbage. OP - enjoy your bag.

I use the same $90 bag I bought years ago.

And know that you can get a bag that looks exactly the same from the street vendors in Georgetown for $50. But go ahead, throw your money in the crapper.

Does that one come with an epi-pen to jumpstart the godforsaken first-world part of your brain that makes you want to make meaningless purchases? That bag looks like it is made of recycled taxicab upholstery.

yuck, i wouldn't. give $850 to SHARE and buy a $150 handbag.

Ok ladies enough. You have no idea what I do or do not do in terms of helping needy in this country and others. You have no idea whether I have a very simple wardrobe for years and might just like a one time splurge. A fake non leather purse from geargetown can be fun but it's not my style if you hate logos buying fake logos is even worse. And if your ethics are so high, do you know where and how those largely illegal bags are made? Again, I have to remind myself not to go on here, the judgement us really crazy.

They only look the same to people who don't know what real ones look like.

I hope all of you saying the OP shouldn't spend her money on a handbag do not own wedding/engagement rings that cost more than $300. It's the same damn frivolous thing.

I'd never spend $1k on a bag (or even on a ring), but I'm not going to shame those who do. Different priorities, different things we value. Get over yourselves.
