I don't know, but the headline of the first article on this crime said something like "murder, robbery, and rape at Bethesda store." |
Thank you for posting the definition because yes- it does have many components |
YOU ARE AN ***HOLE FOR WONDERING THIS ON A PUBLIC INTERNET BOARD. |
I did not ever see the word rape. The headlines are very careful in stating "suspected" and "sexual assault." |
And your comments make you one of them. Of the hundreds of crimes in DC (and elsewhere), the ones that bother me most are the people who were completely innocent (child shot in her bedroom by a stray bullet - I remember that one from 2003 or so), child in columbia heights killed, any random killing, and killing of people like me (aka, not involved with any shady activity, and yet, still vulnerable). There was a man shot and killed in brookland while working at his store. This shook me because I live there, and because it drives home the risk. The way we relate to victims is one thing - but our sympathy for victims is another. I feel sorry for all of the murdered people - and their families. But certain murders stand out to me because I can relate to the victim so much. So many people are probably feeling the same way. AS for the folks who feel so certain that "it just doesn't add up," I'm sure the poor victims are feeling the same way. Guess what - it doesn't have to add up. Maybe it was an ex boyfriend. Maybe it was a random person hoping to get an ipad or 10. Maybe it was another employee. Maybe it was someone going insane. Maybe it was white wealthy teenagers. Maybe it was a gang intititation. Maybe it was ANYTHING. I mean, you just don't know. Unless you did it or know how did, right? |
Exactly. They call it "senseless crime" for a reason. |
I'm the one who said that it was the Washington Post who used that word. I just tried to find the article online but I couldn't, but I could swear that the first article reporting on this on the washingtonpost.com used the word rape in the headline. Maybe they decided to go with the more broad sexual assault term but once I saw that word in the original article it was hard to get it out of my head. ![]() |
WTF is wrong with you people?!? Do you really not get out in the world AT ALL? Have you never had a job? This was a retail store. Where do you think they get their deliveries, take out the trash, etc??? It sure as hell ain't the front door! The same place EVERY store does-- the "employee entrance" , the "delivery entrance" i.e. THE BACK DOOR!!! which is probably an alley or parking lot. And FYI, most robbers don't don their "masks" to walk down Bethesda Ave. In fact, a baclava can be worn pushed up on the head and there looks no different than a beanie; gloves would not attract anyone's attention in the evening Friday night. And what the F were they going to get from Lululemon in their "inside job"???? Yoga wear in various sizes and all the credit card receipts? The store had already been closed and presumably the till emptied-- even with a day's drawer full, that's only...what a couple $100 at most??? Every transaction I've ever witnessed at Lululemon has been a credit card, anyway-- that stuff is pricey and most gals don't carry a bankroll wrapped in their yoga mat. This was a crime of opportunity-- that store was closed until the victims returned to get something one of them needed and two predators, who probably were waiting around to knock over some nerd with an ipad from the Apple store or hit up a tipsy Bethesda couple finishing dinner decided rape and murder would be way more fun. But not to worry, bad guys, Maryland won't execute you. |
I have worked in several retail stores and restaurants and we always entered through the front door for safety reasons. Trash was in the back but this was not trash or a delivery. Also, for the people who said it was wrong to speculate on the details, is it wrong if the above is your explanation or is it only wrong if you think one of the victims might possibly have known the assailants? Because this poster seems to know all of the details of the crime without actually knowing anything either. |
I have the post on my hands NOW and it says sexual assault. |
I am one of those who have said it's wrong to speculate, specifically because the speculation is all focusing on the theory that it was an inside job. The posts that came after that that tried to paint a picture of how this could've happened without it being an inside job seemed more in response to that. |

PP here...I'm somehow relieved to know I'm not the only one thinking too much about this case. It has me feeling very frightened and unsafe. I hope the paper posts any updates...there haven't been any yet. I want these people behind bars. |
