Agree. The Spanish authorities have backtracked so much on the phone and wallet.

So many young men die this way. Seems whenever one goes missing while out at night, it is about a 50%+ chance they drowned.

No he was robbed and a fight ensued and they pushed him in. Where’s the girl?
Who got his phone? Where’s the necklace?

They have a witness who saw him walking up onto a rocky outcropping overlooking the water. He probably lost his balance or took a misstep in the dark. Lots of drunk young men get into fights and lose things too, but that isn't the same as being murdered.

Link?
I just don’t trust the Spanish here. Remember Amanda?

That was Italy...

I’m sorry, I don’t care you don’t leave your friends at a bar, anywhere. If somebody wants to stay, you draw straws to see who stays. I tell my child that too. It shouldn’t be this way but society forces this on us. I think.

Especially in a strange city or foreign country!

All the same. “Privacy” laws rule there so we won’t get the truth.

He went off with a girl, then lost phone, maybe wallet? Was the girl the “lure”?

Then walked to a mountain and fell in?
Or…..

A couple of weeks ago a drunk Michigan university did similar late at night and allegedly drowned in the frozen Lake Superior. Due to ice and snow storms, they still haven’t found his body - it’s possible they never will. He too was also without his cell phone.

The port mentioned in the article is the water right in front of the bar.

Yes but the rocky outcropping is quite high and off to the side. Not right there if you know this area.

They got separated. Nobody left anyone on purpose.

That’s the whole point you have to be intentional. You don’t just “get separated” someone decides to leave or walk off or go to the bathroom alone, or hookup etc. that is not safe with heavy drinking in a foreign country.

Good luck getting drunk American college kids to NEVER hook up with any fellow American or Euro college kids while on holiday or studying in European cities. Sorry to say but people assume young men like him are generally safe.

I guess time will tell if he was actually robbed and accosted or not.

I walked away from a bar while drunk in my early 20s in Spain as well. The bar was crowded and I suddenly felt like I was going to be sick and I just dashed out to get air and to avoid throwing up on anyone. I then ran down the street in the wrong direction from where I would have been expected to go and went into an alley. My friends didn't stand a chance.

What was fortunate for me was that a really good man saw me, brought me water, and stayed with me for 2 hours until I sobered up. He later walked me back to the bar where I had run from once I was able to figure out where that was. Eventually, 3 hours after I left the bar I found my friends who were in a panic and had been looking for me for hours - but where they expected me to have gone versus where I went.
