I don't remember him being put in a detention center, let alone being ill in said detention center. |
And keep everyone who looks like him— Gollum from Lord of the Rings? |
And to the extent he was “held” in any form, it is standard issue for an international custody dispute. Which again, is not happening with Liam. His parents are both here. |
| The school picture of him taken with the light blue backdrop, just like your child did at school, should be seen side by side to how he looks now - lying motionless in his father’s arms. Shame on the people that took an innocent boy, with his little blue warm hat coming home from school to be thrown in a cell. If he recovers from his illness - will be ever recover from this memory? |
They are pro fetus. Once you are born you are own your own. |
He will not. People will blame his parents for putting him in this situation, but the inhumanity is all ICE. |
I work with undocumented people and I can guarantee you they are not receiving “free daycare” or “insurance”. |
| Liam isn't the first and won't be the last child taken and locked up. It's horrific. ICE has also been stopping school buses and stalking elementary kids walking home from school (meaning kids not walking with parents). Kids are going to be locked up, hurt, kidnapped by ICE, and killed. This is coming. |
He’s not the first, but with some strategy, he can be the last. I get all the people wondering why “no one cares” about the other kids. We absolutely do. But if people understand just how many children were suffering, it would be overwhelming. When people are overwhelmed, they shut down and do nothing. People understand how to get angry over one adorable little kid who did nothing wrong and who went from healthy to extremely ill after only a few days in ICE custody. We need to keep the pressure up so ICE decides they never want to have another “Liam situation” ever again. |
The GOP is only pro life for the unborn. Once born the GOP doesn't give a flying flip about their lives. |
| The migrant detention centers (which I think probably deserves its own thread?) have no accountability. Does anyone know how many more children are being held? These centers are primarily run by for profit firms (they are being paid to hold people in detention!). Migrants are people. To treat them with no dignity and subhuman conditions is deplorable. Why are we allowing mass number of people to be traumatized?? |
Elian Gonzalez also wasn't placed in a detention center. He was almost immediately reunited with his father - who he was being kept apart from by distant relatives he didn't even know. |

Two more kids from Liam’s elementary school were taken into custody with their mother:
Kuhlman (the principal) said the children’s mother called the school early Thursday to tell them she’d been detained and asked school leaders to bring the kids to her at the Whipple Federal Building near Fort Snelling because there were no family members in Minnesota to care for them. “We had to deliver them to a detention center,” Kuhlman said. “The kids were with us. They were safe. They feel comfortable with us because we’re caring adults. But to ask educators to deliver them is horrible, you know?” he added. “I will always abide by a parent’s wishes. And she wanted to be reunited with the boys. She wanted to go together. But great goodness (for ICE) to put us in a position like that. I don’t have words.” He said the boys cried when he told them what was happening and were frightened and asked to hold a school nurse’s hand when they walked into the Whipple Building. https://www.mprnews.org/story/2026/01/29/2-more-kids-from-liam-ramos-columbia-heights-school-in-ice-custody |
Yep, Elián González was first taken to a hospital and treated, then placed in custody of a family member who lived in the US, pending final decisions. None of that would have been concerning for treatment of Liam Conejo Ramos. |
