That's a you decision and you get to deal with the implications.

Its below 20 until Sunday.

Further evidence you should have "chipped" your car out a few days ago. Be a grown up.

Do you actually expect to be off work until Sunday?

We had quite a bit of sun, so if you cleared your car a bit, the sun did the rest. I spent max 2 hours total over the past 2 days clearing 2 cars . Same for shoveling. And I am a not-young, not super strong woman.

Exactly!

Why did you wait several days?

I dont understand — people have saved hours by not commuting, can use their lunch break to work on digging out.

I would think most people would have prioritized their cars so they could leave, yet you are just now clearing your windshield??

Exactly. I cleared mine off Sunday.

Omg people. It took us two days to get to it because 1) I’ve been working , 2) conditions on Sunday were horrible, and we just did a first pass to remove snow in the morning and then got buried in 6 inches of ice, 3) we started yesterday on the cars, but see 1) I’ve been working, and only had time for the driveway which was also buried in ice.

I finished car #2 today. It all sucked.

You should have done it all Sunday.

It didn’t stop sleeting until dark on Sunday. What are you talking about? Maybe it was different where you live.

Are you in DC? I just ran my cars for like 30 min, then all the snow slid off in one chunk. This was Monday morning. I did 3 cars during lunch hours (i worked later to make up time).

This thread is about Feds. You should be working about 8 hours, without a commute you should make good progress?

No I’m not in DC and my arms beg to differ about the ease. I ran my car for an hour and it was 4 inches of solid ice plastered to to the windshield. Not sure why but it was a complete nightmare. My location got a TON of ice on Sunday and it took us two days to dig out. We are able bodied. Others are not and that was the point of my post.

So why are you commenting on this thread.

You could have been done earlier if you focused on your cars instead of ranting here.

I'm in Fairfax. Yesterday I went out for lunch and the roads were fine. Today I went to Costco and Kaiser and the roads were fine. I shoveled my driveway on Sunday. What the hell is wrong with people?

I’m sorry what? I’m posting about the conditions and opining about whether people are going to be able to make it in safely tomorrow. Seems quite relevant. Why are you posting?

Nova. My driveway was completely clean by 8pm Sunday. I went out probably 4 times throughout the day to stay in top of it.

This is a thread about conditions in the DC area for work. You said you don't live here so the conditions where you are don't really matter.

My street wasn't plowed until later today so we had to go clear the bottom of my driveway. My neighbor's car basically got boxed in.

Weird vibes here folks. Anyway, stay safe tomorrow if you have to go in! Hopefully people that can stay home, do, and it won’t be a rough commute for you.

Wonderful that VDOT plowed your streets. We have not seen a plow and can't get to the main road, which cameras say is clear.
