Open or at most 2 hr delay.

I hope they allow telework. I was just in a staff meeting and everyone stated they wouldn’t be able to drive to work and would be taking annual leave if telework wasn’t offered. Which is stupid to basically shut down the government when we all could easily telework.

We are in a suburb location off a side street. Maybe it’s different if we were in dc and public transport was an option

Well, I just chipped out my windshield. It took an hour.. with the car and defroster on in full sunlight. My wrists and hands are gonna be sore. A lot of people aren’t going to be able to dig out themselves. Also, TONS of black ice. Its really unsafe out there.

Mid-day weather/office closure update from
@USOPM
: Regional DOTS are reporting significant work in progress on secondary roads in time for tomorrow morning commute hours. Road conditions for major arteries remain very good. Rail and bus services are expected to return to normal for tomorrow commute times. We'll keep you updated as we learn more, but as noted yesterday, if things remain on track, we are likely to be open tomorrow with unscheduled telework and leave authorized.

That makes sense. I just want to be able to authorize telework for anyone who feels they can’t commute safely. The fewer nervous or unsafe drivers out there, the better.

I agree! It’s a shame this isn’t left up to supervisor discretion.

Just a reminder that there are many of us nervous/unsafe drivers out there that work in federal jobs that are not telework eligible.

I personally plan to take liberal leave but several of my coworkers who are new and have little to no leave accrued are nervously planning to try to venture in if OPM declares us open, despite having unplowed/semi plowed and icy roads.

This will be a mess.

There will absolutely be car accidents tomorrow if the gov opens on time and everyone has to be there in person.

Despite what Kupor said earlier, I think its closed again. Fairfax Connector is running Saturday schedule for only a few routes.

Why did you wait several days?

That's a you decision and you get to deal with the implications.

I dont understand — people have saved hours by not commuting, can use their lunch break to work on digging out.

I would think most people would have prioritized their cars so they could leave, yet you are just now clearing your windshield??
