2010G BSC Coming For FVU

It looks like the only good team VYS has is there 2010 team. Maybe some of those players can play on BRAVE now. Isn’t that the whole point of having six clubs apart of this?

I’m a current 2010 FVU parent and I’m considering leaving because I thought the parent meeting the other night was an absolute train wreck. I was disgusted with how they attacked our former coaches. MV’s comments actually made me wonder why even pay for FVU coaching and they clearly don’t value player development.

The simple reality is if they kept the coaches then the team would have continued to grow. Having KJ come on the call just reminded me that we are now BRAVE and under the same leadership that leads the awful boys program. Poor leadership is pointing the finger rather than owning your mistakes.

Can someone confirm that they are really making families pay the whole year if they want to leave now?

Of course they will make families pay the full year.

I feel bad for the girls. These coaches on both sides are using the girls to get revenge.

Leave while you can the season hasn’t started yet. We never pay the entire year’s fees up front for this reason hope you can get some of your $$$ back.

Not to mention Bethesda and their coaches are violating ECNL recruitment rules.

Can you please cite which section of the ECNL competition rules that are being violated? Grow up…

It's bad form for players to leave at this point, especially those who knew they were leaving during playoffs - yes, we know. But go, please. Don't stay at a club you don't want to be with, you'll just make the team chemistry toxic. Leave your teammates, parents. Please dont stay. Parents always make things worse, players only play. Wish we could have replaced you earlier, but the team will survive with you.

There’s been a lot of negativity lately, and regardless of which side you’re on, it needs to stop. Less than three weeks ago, we were all together celebrating, competing, and enjoying finals as a team. Now, because of recent decisions and shifting allegiances, it feels like people are turning on each other. That’s incredibly sad. Right or wrong, it doesn't change the fact that girls who’ve built friendships over years won’t be on the field together next week to laugh, play, and compete.

Whether this all stems from poor FVU leadership, mismanagement, or something more personal from NV and ML, the outcome is the same...a great group of girls has been split apart.

For those who are staying please don’t diminish the decisions of those who are leaving. Every family made the choice they believed was best for their child, based on the information, opportunities, or promises they were given.

And for those who are leaving telling others to “calm down” or mocking their emotions isn’t helpful either. The remaining team went from a roster of 20 to 15 almost overnight, first in the mid-atlantic to who knows where. And If you get joy out of any of that, then that IS wrong. While yes, everyone could have made a decision back in March or May to move on the reality is everyone didn't because of the huge push to "keep this team together". Doesn't keep to be very important now.

This kind of turnover happens often in youth sports, especially in our area, but it doesn’t make it any easier for the girls and families affected. Even if some believe this was the result of poor club management and it's what CW, MV and Brave deserve, that’s not on the players. The girls who’ve shared the field for one, two, or five years deserve better than being caught in the crossfire.

So let’s stop pointing fingers. Wish each other well and move forward. Don’t root for the other side to fail because not long ago, we were all in this together. I truly hope every promise that was made whether it’s CW coaching for the next three years or commitments made to new recruits at BSC is honored. At the end of the day, it’s about the kids. Let’s respect that.

Well said. And yes we knew.

They then reach out to at least 8 of the starting line up for FVU 2010 less than two weeks from the season starting and ask them to leave FVU and join BSC. That is flat out wrong on so many levels. No one is arguing the invited girls are not talented and deserve opportunities but this was an unprofessional shady move from two coaches bitter they were fired and wanting to punish FVU.

Oh wow…waking up to some fun drama.

As someone that has coached against ML and NM for years, I couldn’t be happier players are following them!!

The only thing that was unprofessional and shady was how FVU handled the coaching announcements and treatment of these coaches.
I still can’t even believe the story of how it went down. ML told me that a week before tryouts, CW told numerous families that the coaches were returning and he gave the coaches verbal offers with finances included, and then ONE day before tryouts called the coaches and rescinded the offers without any explanation.
This heinous act was clearly intentional so the coaches couldn’t find other ECNL jobs in VA.

Every family should run from FVU as coaches talk so no decent coach will ever go there again. Also, I’m sure college coaches know the story so they won’t think highly of the club either especially since they have been working with those coaches for years.

Are we all pretending to be surprised that coaches of top teams get ousted, move to another top club and some of their players follow them? Of course they’ll do it after playoffs. Why throw their season away and get everyone’s feelings hurt before? Finishing your tenure with the team strong is the right thing to do. Not on either team but could’ve told you months ago it’s going to happen. Everyone and their dog knew.

So why are you so bitter? We should’ve replaced you earlier! There’s clearly more inherent toxicity within the team outside of the coaching situation since you’re modeling the exact same disloyalty that you’re crying about. That is exactly why parent make decisions based on what’s best for their player. Trust no one.
