There’s been a lot of negativity lately, and regardless of which side you’re on, it needs to stop. Less than three weeks ago, we were all together celebrating, competing, and enjoying finals as a team. Now, because of recent decisions and shifting allegiances, it feels like people are turning on each other. That’s incredibly sad. Right or wrong, it doesn't change the fact that girls who’ve built friendships over years won’t be on the field together next week to laugh, play, and compete. Whether this all stems from poor FVU leadership, mismanagement, or something more personal from NV and ML, the outcome is the same...a great group of girls has been split apart. For those who are staying please don’t diminish the decisions of those who are leaving. Every family made the choice they believed was best for their child, based on the information, opportunities, or promises they were given. And for those who are leaving telling others to “calm down” or mocking their emotions isn’t helpful either. The remaining team went from a roster of 20 to 15 almost overnight, first in the mid-atlantic to who knows where. And If you get joy out of any of that, then that IS wrong. While yes, everyone could have made a decision back in March or May to move on the reality is everyone didn't because of the huge push to "keep this team together". Doesn't keep to be very important now. This kind of turnover happens often in youth sports, especially in our area, but it doesn’t make it any easier for the girls and families affected. Even if some believe this was the result of poor club management and it's what CW, MV and Brave deserve, that’s not on the players. The girls who’ve shared the field for one, two, or five years deserve better than being caught in the crossfire. So let’s stop pointing fingers. Wish each other well and move forward. Don’t root for the other side to fail because not long ago, we were all in this together. I truly hope every promise that was made whether it’s CW coaching for the next three years or commitments made to new recruits at BSC is honored. At the end of the day, it’s about the kids. Let’s respect that.
