Paying public tuition after private tution

the PP must have meant 35k for tuition per semester. Tulane Tuition not counting Room and board is 69k for the year.
Ivy tuition-only per semester is lower than 35. We pay 89k a year total for tuition (60k) room board and fees, and are happy to do so, though we paid 32k for private k-12 so the delta seemed reasonable to us considering savings and salary. Ivies and similar are well worth it.

Their post specifically said $35k per semester, tuition only. It’s right there in the first post, but a lot of folks don’t seem to have clocked it.

You'll hear the same litany of prestige schools -- the UCs, Michigan, UVA, UNC, etc. -- and the same litany of big sports schools like Ohio State, etc. But you will never, ever hear UMD mentioned. OP here.

The public is not UMD. And I am comparing paying tuition at a public u vs tuition at a private u. Not k-12. And the tuition includes fees. The only payment I wasn't including was living/food because the situations are different.

That said, I can totally see the value in going to private k-12 whether the student goes to public or private u. Not sure why that matters.

OP, there is ZERO reason why you can't just name the school. Your kid isn't the only one there. You're at no risk of outing yourself. The refusal of posters on this board to provide even the most basic information out of fear of being outed makes posts like yours worthless.

Yeah, it seems you just want to pick a fight over whether something is top or not.

Go look up the tuition and fees for each school. You can see for yourself. I posted four of them earlier in the thread (UF, UNC, UTA, UCLA). Others like UCB, Michigan, UVA are more expensive. But still $20k and under for the whole year.

I didn't name the schools because the 2 schools together could be identifiable. I included top in my op to signal that is is not a directional school (or whatever term DCUM uses to disparage publics) and the educational opportunities there are world class.

All that said, yes, my post was about the general feeling of paying so little after paying so much. It really hit home. Who is to say what the outcomes will be but both kids are very pleased with their situations.

Not OP. Tuition and fees for the entire upcoming school year at the top 10 publics (based on USNWR, there is a tie for ninth among the last four which is why there are more than 10). Numbers directly from the schools’ websites:
