Anonymous wrote:Ugh, Jawando.

He was on Zoom for a neighborhood meeting regarding the big mental health and substance abuse for-profit treatment center opening Nextdoor to an elementary school in the Sherwood pyramid. Said nothing. He was there to back up the electeds.

I agree that he and Glass should not have a captive audience of voters. Hopefully he won’t make it about him or his election.

Doesn’t he have kids in private school? (Or going to private HS in the fall?)

And didn't Jawando sue MCPS several years ago? I hope he talks about how great public education is in Montgomery County!

He touted his own mcps education but apparently he’s sending one of his kids to private high school to play sports (from his social media).

His child is attending his alma mater. You can read or listen to his autobiography. He shared about his experience in MCPS and St John’s.
+1 lots of ignorant people hating on someone they know nothing about.

?

Nobody is hating on him. Anyone can google him.

The point is that an elected official running for higher office that funds our public school system is sending his kid to a private high school.

It’s irrelevant that the school is his alma mater. The point is that this move makes a statement.

PS - His speech at Sherwood’s graduation yesterday was lackluster (at best).

One of his kids is in private school. You don’t know their circumstances and many elected officials send their kids to private schools. There's no law against that.

Will Jawando’s speech was just o.k. Went on about stuff not many can relate to, but it was o.k. The ceremony was nice.

He just said last March that he has 4 kids in “this school system.” And I thought perhaps his oldest is the one that is going to SJC for sports next year?

Anyway, his bio doesn’t mention his private school education—and I’m sure that’s intentional (a strategic move to only tout his mcps education…even if it didn’t include HS).

He’s entitled to send his kids to private school, but it speaks volumes when someone on the county council (with aspirations to be the CE) is bailing on mcps for private school.

Sports isn’t a legit excuse. And candidly, neither is a learning disability. After all, shouldn’t mcps be equipped to serve all students well? It supposedly used to. Remember when it had national ranking status? So, what’s changed? We pay high taxes to support a bloated education system.

Anyway, it should matter when an elected official opts for private school for high school—particularly since decisions made by the county council for the last 20 years have dramatically impacted our schools and overall community.

I am not sure if you’re slow or being purposely deceitful. Again, he is not bailing on MCPS. One of his kids with special needs is in private schools, the rest are in MCPS.

No he would not

He is one sided and that is not good
He loves to spew his one sided BS and claim he promotes both sides.
His support of Esther Wells tells you Jason is not “moderate” nor is his “news” .
It is extremely obvious Jason isn’t news he’s promoting propaganda. He cherry picks his so called news as well .

Everyone cherry picks news but he is pretty moderate. More than the liberal moco show guy who they have speaking IMO

No, he isn't "moderate." Highlighting Esther Wells on his YouTube channel shows he's engaged in spreading misinformation and propaganda. The overwhelming focus on Montgomery Perspective in about 94% of his posts certainly lacks neutrality. Moreover, his vocal support for Brenda Diaz during the recent Board of Education meetings was unmistakable and raised concerns about his agenda.

I'm pretty darned liberal but Esther Wells' message of fiscal prudence resonates with me. Do I agree with everything she says? No. But if people don't drop this demand for political purity from every single candidate, we are never going to see anything improve.

Try again.

Esther Wells sells "sunshine to cure disease." She's an RW propagandist and the worst kind because she sells goobleygook lies.
Esther Wells promoted Diaz for a BOE member on X her nonsense writing was incoherent and stupid. Her support of the Heritage Foundation's Classical Curriculum is evidence she has no knowledge of good curriculum. She never once could support her stance because she has no idea what she is talking about.

If Esther Wells is your guest and you are not pushing back on her propaganda and lies, then you are not a journalist, you are promoting an agenda. There is zero reason to have someone like her on period.

The athlete recruited to play sports at SJC?

These opinions kinda suck. Agree with PP that Musk should be a speaker.

That opinion sucks. He just caused dozens of parents who are federal workers to lose their jobs.

Not on any planet does Wells know reality.

Her X account and her BOE run are her words nonsense and propaganda.

UARE, and Clean Slate MoCo, which have all endorsed Wells, use divisive, dog-whistling rhetoric that further marginalizes the most vulnerable students.

Wells noted on her campaign website that she served as “Chairman & President Trustee of the Board of a multi-million dollar non-profit in Gaithersburg.” She does not reveal that the non-profit states on its website that it “opposes all forms of sexual immorality, including…homosexuality.”

So not only is she a heinous human shes a liar and she’s anti vax.

“ Sunshine “does not cure Polio.

Let’s get back to the original question who would be a good speaker.

Not RW propagandists

Wowza.

Too clueless to realize mcps has competitive language immersion in a timely manner so he sued mcps on behalf of minorities?

Del. Stewart was my DC’s commencement speaker last year. I had never heard of him but thought he was excellent.
