Why have a graduation speaker at all? It’s high school. |
And didn't Jawando sue MCPS several years ago? I hope he talks about how great public education is in Montgomery County! |
Every speech of his is a rambling mess. |
I enjoyed the commencement speaker I heard yesterday. It was a nice touch, especially since for some of these kids, it will be their only graduation. |
There were several speakers at the graduation I went to. One was the official commencement speaker, but it made no difference, he didn’t even speak the longest. My favorite speech was actually given BOE member Laura Stewart. She started her speech and then stopped to say she was going off script and spoke from her heart. It was lovely. |
He touted his own mcps education but apparently he’s sending one of his kids to private high school to play sports (from his social media). |
I attended Sherwood’s graduation to support my husband who works with seniors there. It was cute. Heard rave reviews about the speaker, principal’s words and board member at Magruder from several friends. |
His child is attending his alma mater. You can read or listen to his autobiography. He shared about his experience in MCPS and St John’s. |
Elon Musk would be perfect. Step aside from Trump. |
+1 lots of ignorant people hating on someone they know nothing about. |
? Nobody is hating on him. Anyone can google him. The point is that an elected official running for higher office that funds our public school system is sending his kid to a private high school. It’s irrelevant that the school is his alma mater. The point is that this move makes a statement. PS - His speech at Sherwood’s graduation yesterday was lackluster (at best). |
Don't trust everything you read. |
My child's graduation speaker, Alex Tsironis, was great. He spoke briefly, and appropriately, about people not having to follow a clear linear path to success. About how he wasn't sure what he wanted to do in life, starting out as a massage chair salesperson in the mall, to becoming a teacher, to scoring a surprise success with MoCo Snow, to moving to running MoCo Show full time. It was the perfect message for a bunch of graduates who really span a range of strengths and opportunities. I felt it was a great fit for our school. |
I'm pretty darned liberal but Esther Wells' message of fiscal prudence resonates with me. Do I agree with everything she says? No. But if people don't drop this demand for political purity from every single candidate, we are never going to see anything improve. |
