We do not need any politician to be a speaker. End of story. |
The irony MCPS is sending to its graduates that no matter how successful they become, they will never be good enough to be asked back as a graduation speaker unless they become a local politician. |
Everyone cherry picks news but he is pretty moderate. More than the liberal moco show guy who they have speaking IMO |
Instead of having any politician speak (whenether it’s a Democrat or Republican), the schools should choose actual alumni of the high school, that way they can connect their experiences with their high school to recent graduates. |
Several schools do have alumni speaking- I noticed Wootton, B-CC, and Churchill among others. I do agree that having an actual alumni as the speaker is better. |
No, he isn't "moderate." Highlighting Esther Wells on his YouTube channel shows he's engaged in spreading misinformation and propaganda. The overwhelming focus on Montgomery Perspective in about 94% of his posts certainly lacks neutrality. Moreover, his vocal support for Brenda Diaz during the recent Board of Education meetings was unmistakable and raised concerns about his agenda. |
Brooke Lierman went to Whitman (she’s their speaker this year). |
LOL ok Jason. And no you would not be a good speaker and you are flattering yourself calling yourself a local news person. |
True, or a current staff member of the school at least. |
So smart wealthy people can't suffer from depression? Who is the tone deaf one? |
The B-CC speaker didn't graduate from B-CC he graduated from Bullis. |
Makstein would be good since he is a local news person and they have other similar people doing them. |
Thank goodness Esther and Brenda did not win. They have really strange views, Esther is clueless beyond elementary school and neither can have rational discussions. |
Omg I was there! It was so bad. Honestly it wasn't the topic per se, she just was not a good fit for graduating HS seniors. She might be a lovely human but not a dynamic speaker and didn't really address the graduates in a meaningful, memorable, or interesting way. |
I'm not going to lie; I'm kind of excited about Churchill's tomorrow. She won a beauty pageant and has been a TV host- she is someone used to speaking to crowds. Here's hoping for a good (and not too long) speech!
But I can't believe graduation is here and I'm not even sure if I would care if it was the worst speech imaginable just so I can see my kiddo cross the stage! AAH! - Excited mama |
