Are VA publics really better than Maryland's?

Many many people do. Educated ones too; and most likely more educated than you.

Doubt it. 3 graduate degrees here.

dp.. yet thousands of people with graduate degrees do, in fact, live in MD, which has one of the highest educated populace per capita.

Important to remember that UVA is vastly superior to UMD.

How is VCU better than Towson? IMO, they are not different.

That’s because you are clueless. VCU is a national university while Towson is a regional university. VCU has a far wider range of programs including a medical school and one of the top ranked fine arts programs in the country. It is a far more comprehensive and diverse university. Just because admissions may not be tougher doesn’t mean “they are not different.” They’re very different.

+1

VCU has an engineering dept. Towson, nope.
And premed at a university with a medical school is extremely different than at at Towson.

Both are good schools, but VCU has much more to offer overall.

Absolutely. That university whose illustrious history and prestige is rivaled only by Harvard is far better than some rinky dink public school in Maryland, of all places.

Hm.. IDK. ROI doesn't look like VCU is any better than Towson.

2021/2022 year - 10 year

Towson $225,000

VCU $160,000

Maybe it's all those art degrees VCU gives out.

Well duh! You cannot compare 10 year out salaries across the board. You have to compare for same majors. Otherwise the comparison is pointless

And yes, art majors tend to make less, especially in the first 5-10 years. So what?

+1 between the two, I’d rather send my kids to UMBC

That is your choice. But it doesn't change the fact that Vtech is a significantly better ranked school. We are talking 100 points different in rankings.

Richmond, VA also more appealing and interesting than Towson, MD.

Have you been to VCU? Yes it's in a city but there's nothing appealing about it. I go there often and it's not in a safe part of town. I would not want my daughter going to that school.

Ok, Karen.

I did not know that. DC from MD was thinking about VCU, but now I think we need to rethink that.

You’re kidding, right?!! You’re “rethinking“ VCU because of some anonymous idiot on the Internet?

Since when? Last I remember VT was ranked in the 70s and 80s?

SMCM has higher test score ranges than JMU, VCU, or GMU.

Yes and its student body consists of about 12 students and it’s in the middle of nowhere and boring as hell. It’s also definitely on the decline.

Look again. In the latest US news rankings VT is 51 and UMBC 144.

Are you arguing simply for the sake of arguing or are you just playing dense? VCU has an engineering school, yes, but it is primarily known for its fine arts. I guarantee you the average engineer from VCU is kicking the shit out of the average graduate of Towson
