I have a 13-year-old daughter. Some of her friends are 5'7 but she still looks WAY older than them.
You can't really compare the Blue Ivy you see on stage with your typical DMV 13-year-old girl. You are looking at her with stage makeup and hair, custom-designed clothing, and most importantly, performing. Do people really think this is how she walks around every day, how she goes to school, or hangs out with her friends?

You don't see much of her in public, but here's a clip of an interview Blue Ivey and Beyonce did last year while recording for the Mufasa movie. She doesn't appear overly grown, overly sexualized, too mature, etc. She seems like a very sweet and well-mannered young girl.

This was before she became sexualized. She was probably 2 years younger here.
This interview is after she was performing on the Renaissance tour. Y'all complained about her being too grown on that tour, too.

She is a washed up middle aged pop star who is exploiting this kid to get her boring ass concerts to go viral and get write-ups on entertainment rags.

Right? These wacko parents probably already have her plastic surgery appts booked. Rhinoplasty and then everything else.

Grandma Knowles looked PUT off at little Rumi last night. Like annoyed she was so enthused. Blue got her right in line. Weird dynamics for sure.

Tina seems totally fine with her. Nice interaction all around and the little kid is a bit hyped up with excitement. Nothing to see here.

I don't think anyone is complaining about Blue Ivy. She just turned 13, she isn't running her own life. It is the adults in her life making all the decisions. People really like to see the kids of the rich and famous. That does always get increased views and engagement. I agree that Beyonce is using her kids to keep people interested. How Blue Ivy feels about any of it is a guess. And at 13, getting to live like an adult and being treated like an adult and working like an adult - feels cool. Teens like to be grown up. Whether or not that is healthy is another question. Beyonce apparently started dating JayZ when she was a teen and he was quite a bit older so likely her view of adolescence is a bit skewed. She was also pretty active in the Sean Combs party scene so I am not sure her moral compass is all that concerned with what she exposes her kids to.

Interesting theory and likely not too far off base. Stuff will come out in the Diddy trial.

This is gross. Beyoncé is desperate. Her tour is bombing so she’s using this kid.

I just wonder if Blue has any friends her age. Does she do typical 13 yr old things with them? What she is doing is fun and cool, but it's not a normal-kid-experience. Does she have any normal kid experiences? Or are they all manufactured and over the top, like when Kylie Jenner's homeschooled kid wanted to ride a yellow school bus so the dad rented one and she got a spin around the gated community block.

She’s never going to be a normal kid. Her parents are two of the most famous people in the world and she is growing up in a fabulously wealthy bubble. I think it’s impossible for kids like that to have a “normal” (like us) upbringing.

This. It's so ridiculous for people to expect her to be like a normal teenager. Do any of you idiots think she would be able to, like a regular teen, work at Taco Bell for the summer? She'd be completely unsafe if they tried to force her to do stuff like that. The racists here who hate Beyonce and Jay Z because they donated lots of money to bail out civil rights protestors would send their crazies to harass and hurt her. You people are jealous weirdos.

I'm not a huge Beyonce fan, but you have issues. Like a typical magahat you have a weak grasp of reality.

Sexualizing your teen daughter with sexy moves and outfits is way more than a performance. Very sad to see.

Gramma have you been to a prom anywhere in this country in the last 10 years? Keep clutching those pearls honey.

You would think with everything Beyoncé knows about the industry, that she wouldn’t want her 13 year old front and center. I feel like it is so rare for teens in this high profile roles and in the music industry to ever turn out well as adults.

Idk that beyonces experience as a young girl in the industry was that bad because her parents were very involved. I personally think that it’s a mistake not to encourage blue to do something different because she will never move out of her mom’s shadow. But bey’s mom was a stage mom so maybe she’s just doing what she saw.

What do you suggest she do? It doesn't matter what career she attempts, people will always claim nepotism. So many kids of the famous are failures because of the constant scrutiny and criticism. Even though they have money, their lives are often crap. It's hard to get them to be independent as so many people are coming for them.

Something about her walk is strange and makes her look like she was born male. It looks exaggerated, like a drag queen's walk.

You are sick. There is something wrong with you.

I often wonder how many people on these posts are true stalkers obsessed with the famous people being discussed.

What 12 and 13 year olds are going to prom?

Those are not "her own backup dancers;" those are Beyoncé's dancers. The woman on the right of the screen is Beyoncé's co-lead dancer. She has been with Beyoncé for 7 years and recently became known as Blue's "stage momma." She's been a mentor and protector of Blue during the last tour and has continued through this new tour. She is always dancing close to Blue on stage.

It’s interesting how posters express “concern” about Blue Ivy’s upbringing without acknowledging the context or underlying biases. Blue is 13 years old and happens to be the daughter of two world-famous entertainers. Of course, her life is going to look different from the average teen’s — just like it does for any child of celebrities. That doesn’t mean she’s being deprived of a "normal" childhood, it just means her normal is different. Let’s not forget Beyoncé is known to be incredibly private and intentional when it comes to her children. From what’s publicly known, Blue is involved in school, dance, and other age-appropriate activities.

Also, let’s be honest: Black children are regularly adultified. What Blue Ivy is doing — dancing on stage with her mother — is not harmful or inappropriate. She’s being celebrated by her family, cheered on by audiences, and seems genuinely joyful. I see no problem?
