You all must have toddlers. BI looks very much like a teenager. |
Exactly she is just really tall. |
Sexualizing your teen daughter with sexy moves and outfits is way more than a performance. Very sad to see. |
She's barely a teen. |
I agree. She’ looks beautiful but the o at-fringe and extensions give a lot of the sense of motion and flow to her moves. I would not have my tween DD made up to look so mature. But I’m not Beyoncé! |
Those are not "her own backup dancers;" those are Beyoncé's dancers. The woman on the right of the screen is Beyoncé's co-lead dancer. She has been with Beyoncé for 7 years and recently became known as Blue's "stage momma." She's been a mentor and protector of Blue during the last tour and has continued through this new tour. She is always dancing close to Blue on stage. It’s interesting how posters express “concern” about Blue Ivy’s upbringing without acknowledging the context or underlying biases. Blue is 13 years old and happens to be the daughter of two world-famous entertainers. Of course, her life is going to look different from the average teen’s — just like it does for any child of celebrities. That doesn’t mean she’s being deprived of a "normal" childhood, it just means her normal is different. Let’s not forget Beyoncé is known to be incredibly private and intentional when it comes to her children. From what’s publicly known, Blue is involved in school, dance, and other age-appropriate activities. Also, let’s be honest: Black children are regularly adultified. What Blue Ivy is doing — dancing on stage with her mother — is not harmful or inappropriate. She’s being celebrated by her family, cheered on by audiences, and seems genuinely joyful. I see no problem? |
That’s called being famous — and making sure that no one else can trademark your kid’s name. |
Her dance moves aren’t sexualized, and she is fairly covered up. I think the dancing was done tastefully and they toned it down from the original Deju Vu music video dance moves. |
It’s also rare for teens in high profile roles to be completely supervised by their parents in these roles. This isn’t trusting multiple adults in unfamiliar fields with your kid — this is bringing your kid to work with you and allowing them to apprentice under parental supervision. Do you have similar concerns about Pink’s daughter performing onstage with her? |
You're right — Blue Ivy’s performance was tasteful and age-appropriate. Beyoncé’s original Déjà Vu video was more sensual, but the choreography was clearly toned down for Blue. She was modestly dressed, confident, and clearly enjoying herself. Again, I don't see the problem. |
Her dance moves are very much sexualized for a young teen who just turned 13. |
If a 13-year-old dancing modestly feels ‘sexualized’ to you, that might be more about your lens than her performance. |
I don’t think her performance was in any way inappropriate, she’s tall and her clothing wasn’t really risqué. Her limbs were a bit awkward, like a pony. Gotta say, she definitely looks like Z. That’s etched in stone. I’ll leave it at that. |
It’s not anything worse than what you would see at your average cheer or dance competition. |
Where is all this judgements for scantly clad cheerleaders and cheerleaders performing in UCA dance competitions? Blue probably wants to perform with her mom. And the younger daughter appeared at the latest concert.
She’s nearly 5’7” |
