Beyonce and Blu Ivy

Earning an award—
My dd was invited to her 8th grade awards. Everyone invited did not know the special honor, but all were nominated by a teacher.

We thought, her SS and art teachers really like her, could be them. But more likely it was from her drama teacher.

On the day, it was announced she was awarded for musical theater.

I heard all the kids awarded for SS and art, and they really earned it. It wasn’t just because they are very well liked by those teachers.

Later, she also said, ‘I only got this (the award) because my drama teacher likes me.’ We told her how much she earned it. Really had. Loyal, participated in all the plays as a B-story lead all three years. Participated in all advanced drama courses. Never gave the teacher problems. Created choreography. Belted it out, surprising everyone. By 8ty grade tried challenging roles. It wasn’t given because the teacher liked her.

So: you can like someone and think highly of them, but did they earn it? I know DD didn’t earn SS or Art awards seeing what those kids accomplished. SS fairs, top grades, showing interest in an AP track for 9th social studies and beyond.

I think Blu Ivy can go places, she’s worked at a young age, but it takes a lot to earn it.

This exactly. She hasn’t earned jack.
I'll give you, she didn't earn the Grammy and all the other awards for Brown Skin Girl, but she certainly earned her NAACP award.

Did she really earn that award or get it because she’s Beyoncé’s daughter?
Well it's all subjective. What did you think of her delivery of Kiara?

It was fine. Nothing to write home about.

I do not think Liza Minelli is a good example of a child star pushed into show biz by their famous mother . . .

Did Michael Douglas get his early roles because his dad’s name was Kirk, aka, Spartacus. Nepo kids have always existed. They exist in the arts, business, law you name it. There are nepo babies through music, theatre, Hollywood industry. However it’s not just limited in the arts. Many of you taking issue with Beyonce giving her kid a step-up are the same people who would give your under qualified spawn an internship in your or a dear friend’s law firm, business, PR firm etc. So stop with the hypocrisy.

I don’t see this thread as complaining about Blue getting into the industry. Her parents are famous billionaires, of course she’s starting with fifty steps up compared to others. The issue is that she is young to be on stage like that. Every night and with a huge spotlight or target on her because of who her parents are.

+1 plus she’s being sexualized at 13. Not cool.

DP. The issue I have is that they are basically setting Blu up for failure in that she will never surpass her mom except perhaps in acting. It would make more sense for them to nepo baby her into something adjacent but that would avoid direct comparisons.

I just wonder if Blue has any friends her age. Does she do typical 13 yr old things with them? What she is doing is fun and cool, but it's not a normal-kid-experience. Does she have any normal kid experiences? Or are they all manufactured and over the top, like when Kylie Jenner's homeschooled kid wanted to ride a yellow school bus so the dad rented one and she got a spin around the gated community block.

She’s never going to be a normal kid. Her parents are two of the most famous people in the world and she is growing up in a fabulously wealthy bubble. I think it’s impossible for kids like that to have a “normal” (like us) upbringing.

This. It's so ridiculous for people to expect her to be like a normal teenager. Do any of you idiots think she would be able to, like a regular teen, work at Taco Bell for the summer? She'd be completely unsafe if they tried to force her to do stuff like that. The racists here who hate Beyonce and Jay Z because they donated lots of money to bail out civil rights protestors would send their crazies to harass and hurt her. You people are jealous weirdos.

The Obama girls worked in food service over a summer or two in HS. Apple Martin worked at a clothing store in HS. It can be done.

Kamala Harris worked at a McDonalds.

The Obama’s were with about 2 million when Obama was in office. Kamala grew up middle class and worked at McDs while she was in college. Bey and J are worth about 4 billion. Her childhood is nothing like Apple, the Obama girls, or Kamala. Im sure there are some billionaire kids who have worked normal jobs as teens, but it’s certainly not the norm.
