At the end of the day, I believe that the custodial parent(s) should decide what will happen with the US citizen child. They can:

1) take the child with them to wherever they are being deported to
2) leave the child with a US citizen friend/family member
3) allow the child to enter foster care

I’d assume the majority of parents would choose options 1 or 2. As a human, and on purely humanitarian grounds, I feel terrible for those put in this situation. At the same time, I don’t see how we can allow everyone who comes here illegally and has a child here to stay on those grounds.

Proof? Is there anything besides the DHS press release? There is not. And if there isn't, then your point is invalid. DHS is lying as they have been doing constanty in the last 100 days.

If there were any proof, she would have been tried. If there were any proof, she SHOULD be tried. But there isn't, because she didn't do these things. And yes, I do think criminals have rights, but that isn't what we are talking about. She is not a criminal.

The father and mother came in May 2024 with their then one year old. Instead of being released under Biden the parents were held in detention and the child removed from their custody at that time. The father was ordered deported in July 2024. At that time Venezuela was not taking back their citizens who were ordered deported. The parents got once a week visitations with the child starting in October 2024.

It was very unusual under Biden for a child to me removed from BOTH parents and sent to foster care.

What is happening under Trump is horrific but in this case there appears to be genuine issues with these parents.

But I don't understand how people are drawing conclusions from anything that has happened. None of this is normal.

Even if both parents had been convicted, then you make a good faith effort to find the child's grandparents. I spent a few minutes on line and have already found an Instagram post of the mother and grandmother crying desperately. It can't be so hard to get in touch with the grandmother. For God's sake, give the child back to her family.
