The lowest of all the possible lows: US deports parents and KEEPS THE CHILD

Anonymous
What is the right response to an illegal immigrant in the country with small American born children. I don’t believe you get a free pass because you birthed children inside the country. In one thread, people are criticizing DHS for sending three American born minors to Honduras with their mother. Now, there’s criticism for taking an American born minor child from their soon-to-be deported Venezuelan parents. When it is time for their deportation, perhaps they will be given the option to take their child to Venezuela with them. Pick a lane people

DHS added that, in addition to the father, the child’s mother, Yorely Escarleth Bernal Inciarte, oversees the recruitment of young women for drug smuggling and prostitution."

Again, these two were locked up under Biden and Biden let everyone in! Biden even went so far as to fly people into the country from Venezuela and these two were still locked up!

Oh, but I'm sure their intentions were heartfelt and good. OP keeps searching for stories in an attempt to justify illegal immigration and trash the US.

1. They were not illegal.
2. I am not trying to justify illegal immigration
3. I am 100% fine with the US government deporting mother, father, and child together to Venezuela.

What I am not okay with:
1. Sending people to a maximum security prison in El Salvador, especially *without due process*
2. Deporting a mother and keeping the baby

How am I unreasonable?

You know there’s another thread here where the baby went with the deported mother, and people are angry about it. m

Did you post there and say that’s ok?

Actually, I did not post on that thread.

Way to change the subject and way to assume one size fits all.

There are many different ways to be wrong, and the Trump Administration is experimenting with as many possible to create terror. They are scaring away immigrants who are here. They are scaring away immigrants from coming. They are also ruining our trillion dollar tourism. All of these are appalling. But I am talking about something different: the good of the child.

That is the principle promoted by the United Nations and that mattered to us until just a few months ago. We used to care about the good of the child.

I am going to blow your mind here: different decisions may be made in different situations for the good of the child.

Some possible differences to take into account: If a child is an American citizen; if parent is an American citizen, if parent being deported wishes to have the child removed; if an American citizen parent thinks it is best to keep the child in the US. Why is it so hard to believe that there may be different considerations.

The unifying principle is the good of the child. ANd that is why DHS has to make up lies to demonize this couple, because there is no way to justify keeping this child when:

*the Venezuelan mother has been deported
*the child is also Venezuelan
*the mother has begged for the child to be deported with her

I agree with you (DP.) I am fine with US Citizen children being deported with their non-citizen parents if there is no citizen relative/friend that the parents want to give custody to.

But having a citizen child is not a license to stay in the US illegally. I’m tired of people crying “but my child is a citizen!” Okay, send them to live other citizens then because you don’t have status to stay. And I am glad that practice is being ended, even though I don’t approve of separating them.

Not the situation here. Child is not a citizen. The family came together and requested asylum as a family unit. Feel free to deny asylum. All mother wants is her child to be given back to her.

The morally correct course of action for any government is to let parents make decisions for their children — not to force a decision upon them.

The deeper issue here is that the Trump administration lies about everything. You cannot trust them to handle delicate, empathetic decisions when honesty and compassion are required.

This government has made lying their default mode. Every action they take is a performance, not a pursuit of justice.

When there is no due process, and every word from leadership is a calculated deception, any reasonable person would conclude that they are framing immigrants — manufacturing fear among brown communities to deter them from coming to this country.

On one hand, they are deporting South Americans as "gang members" without due process. On the other, they are deporting highly educated brown students for supporting Palestine — again, without due process.

This disregard for justice, truth, and basic human dignity is why every one of these actions is fundamentally wrong.

eventually the message will get out, don't come to the US illegally. and if you are in the US illegally, leave.

or there will be severe negative consequences for you and your family.

really is very simple.

This is exactly right. We are using the dictators' playbook. We are living under an authoritarian regime. Terror is a tool. Many people have already gotten the message. A few dense Americans are taking longer, but they will get there. There is no due process. This is not freedom.

Now give the baby back to the mother!

What a mess. “Giving away” parenting rights during duress is not good either. Now we are getting into parent custody battles. (Everyone should talk to a friend who has been battled by the other parent). It’s a hot mess.

We should not be in this position to begin with. Of course people start families if they are being processed by the feds for three to five to seven years. They feel like residents so they start families.

Here is the other custody fight at the border:

The real message is “LEGAL OR ILLEGAL IF YOU ARE NOT WEALTHY and WHITE, WE CAN VANISH YOU ON OUR WHIM”!

if these people had not come to the US illegally, NONE OF THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING.

how is that due to an authoritarian regime?

unless you are dedicated to replacing US citizens with cheap labor, and will allow nothing to stop that policy. I can then see your anger.

People (parents, aunt and uncle, grandma) about custody. They lie about living circumstances, circumstances of adoption, who desires what, etc.

These are tough and very challenging cases. I feel bad for everyone involved. But they are not simple and disastrous custody situations happen down the block. These cases involve one or more parent who are incarcerated.

I hope you go down to your county jail and help the moms and dads there who have been separated from their children. You can help with donations, making the visitations more hospitable, donate coloring books etc

Hard to keep track of all these stories. In all situations, I support the families staying together outside of the US.

I’m confused. Am I supposed to be upset when illegal aliens get deported and take their young child, or when they get deported and their child stays?

The Biden admin was the first to remove the child from her parents because they thought they were so dangerous. You don't trust Biden?

With regard to this administration, everyone claims that they want to get rid of any possible immigrants to pump their deportation numbers up. This would have been a very easy deportation if that were their goal since they were all denied asylum. So which is it?

Did you ever think that maybe the migrants and their families were the ones lying? They have every motivation to do so.
