Pros and cons to freedom. I’d rather people overstay their visa than live in a police state.

I'd rather live where people know better than to break laws. Law-abiding, hardworking citizens who don't break laws will be fine.

They don’t come here to sit on their asses, they come here to do the jobs Americans won’t do. Don’t want them here? Pick up a toilet brush and work for $2/hr.

And for the millionth time, the crime rate among immigrants is extremely low - stop pushing the lie that they’re all criminals

For the millionth time, let them come here legally.

Then make a law and a system where people can come here legally. Because apparently we need millions of workers but we dont let them come here legally. At the end this will solve itself, like the anti- vax silliness - let’s have widespread children’s death of measles, whooping cough and polio and people will flock to vaccines again. Let’s deport all honest hardworking undocumented workers quickly and when the economy crashes we will let millions back in as fast or even faster, tattoos and all

This would require a functional Congress and we all know that there will be no functional Congress as long as Republican and Democratic politicians are in power. Perhaps think a little before you vote for someone with an R or D next to their name next time you go to the polls.

Anyone who supports Trump doesn’t give a single shit about enforcing the laws of our country.

+1 People need to obey laws and do what police ask.

People have certain protections under the law, including the 4th amendment which protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government. For example, the police can't enter your home if you don't invite them in unless they have a warrant or believe someone is in imminent danger.

If a police officer orders you to step out of the vehicle, you are legally required to cooperate. The police can tell someone to step out of their car for any reason. There is Supreme Court case law (Pennsylvania v. Mimms, 1977) that gives cops the authority to do this. Any decent lawyer with half a brain would tell someone that’s been pulled over to cooperate with the police and not resist. If a police officer tells you to step out and you refuse, you will be forcibly removed from the vehicle and arrested. If you roll up the window, they will break it open and proceed to arrest you. Needless to say, if you’re pulled over and told to step out of the car, just do it. The place to argue is the courtroom, not the side of the road. Noncompliance won’t get you anywhere but jail.

That is only partially correct. During what is known as a Terry stop, the police can order you to leave the vehicle, and you must. However, a prerequisite is that the have to stopped and detained you legally first. They cannot pull you over without probable cause, which is reasonable articulable suspicion (RAS) that you have committed a crime, are currently committing a crime, or are about to commit a crime. So if there was no RAS of a crime, then there was no legal Terry detention. Then they cannot order you out of the car. Then the entire thing is a violation of the 4th Amendment.

The vehicle is being driven by someone known to be here illegally. They are currently committing a crime.

I agree but if Biden hadn't screwed up on border policy we wouldn't have Trump today.

I am very upset about Biden. Him personally, and the oddities that happened under his leadership. I know it may sounds petty, but I need someone to admit mistakes (or at least one, like he was not well) before I can move on.

It took hundreds of millions of duped idiots to elect Trump and Biden. We are all to blame for this mess. Let's acknowledge these mistakes and move on to better things in 2028.

WTAF are you talking about? Our country is being sold to Russia by the worst SOB we’ve ever produced. Stop whining about Biden, it’s embarrassing and irrelevant.

Biden was a GREAT president.

How can you tell?

Look at the Trump crap show now.

We were TOO STUPID to know how good we had it.

Acknowledging past mistakes is the first step in avoiding repeating those past mistakes. We need a strong two term worthy POTUS elected in 2028 and anything less is unacceptable. If someone says "hey, let's nominate this 80 year old person" in 2028.... tell them to shove the eff off!

What constitutes affiliation? Having a relative the gang?

It’s like expressing sympathy for Palestinians is now considered being a “Hamas sympathizer”

This country is now officially a fascist state.

Just stop. Trump, Musk, and cronies literally dismantling our democracy while simultaneously crashing the economy has literally nothing to do with Biden, Harris, Obama, Bush, Clinton, or anyone else.

Stop pretending there was any reason it was rational for voters to put this guy in office a second time.

If you are an immigrant legal or illegal, it is pretty clear you can just make a payment to Trump and they will let you stay.

You can definitely stay if you work in one of hi hotels or golf courses.

oh really. Tell that to a black man who gets pulled over and roughed up.

I bet you've broken laws.. parking, speeding, etc.. You just want to pick and choose which laws *you* think should be followed.

Like following immigration law?

The article said that she had an active asylum case pending and a legal work permit.

Also what a mom… in the midst of that awful and terrifying situation, she was calm and kept trying to reassure her scared daughter.

I hate what our country is doing to immigrants right now. They make our country what it is and our country is NOT going after criminals. They are going after all immigrants (except Elon and Melania).
