This is why USAID is important. Russia/Iran/China provide aid to terrorist groups who in turn provide it to the civilians surrounding them. The civilians don’t necessarily support them, but they are the ones feeding them and providing some medical aid. If we don’t do the same then more terrorist groups will form in other countries.

Hostage-taking is not the conduct of people with any claim to morality or to immunity for the consequences of their activites.

You keep saying that, but no amount of wishing will make it true. How many thousands of lives is enough retribution for a single hostage? We’re like thousands to one at this point.

However many it takes until they're released is the answer. The power to stop the killing is within Hamas' control. They just choose to keep trying to extort concessions at the expense of their own people, whom they apparently see as completely expendable. If they don't value those lives, why should anyone else?
