Tell me you wash or dry clean your winter coats… I didn’t realize some people do not wash coats from year to year

My kids’ coats get washed every 1-2 weeks if they are playing outside regularly.

As an adult, I dry clean my coat at the end of the season and fluff it on my dryer’s steam fresh setting when I get it out again. I rarely clean my dark colored coats during the winter. I wear clothes under them and am not sweating in them. I did clean my coat last year midseason because I spilled coffee on it.

There are 4 pages of why, lady.

Gross.

The wool coat I wear maybe twice a year gets cleaned every few years. The nice warm coat that’s more of an everyday coat gets cleaned monthly, although I’ll sometimes just do the cuffs. The dog park jacket gets washed weekly or at most, every two weeks.

What? I have never "washed" a coat.

Unless I had gotten a jacket or coat extremely dirty somehow, I would never even consider washing or dry cleaning them. How ridiculous.

My skin doesn’t touch my coats. I dry clean them around once a year.

Yes I wash our coats that can go in the washing machine at a minimum of once per season, usually more. If people are somehow sweating into wool or cashmere coats, sorry but the dry cleaner isn't going to help with that problem.

I don't wash every year unless stained but I use fabric steamer. If you don't have a steamer, you can hang them in bathrooms while taking shower. If that's not possible, hang them for an hour on porch or balcony where they get air and son. If nothing else, freshen them up with dryer.

That being said, you don't have to. You can get away with putting scented dryer sheets in pockets and sleeves.

Unless its machine washable, get it dry cleaned if needed.

Fabreez fabric spray is also useful but spray on inside so you don't accidentally stain it.

Buy washable daily wear jackets so you can wash those. I don't buy dryclean only for regular wear.

I wash or get dry cleaned at the end of the season before putting them away. The kids' coats get washed much more frequently than that. I learned early on that they need two puffer jackets because they get so filthy on the playground and it seemed like one was always in the wash -- and I have girls!
