Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
This is your own make-weight argument so you’re in the best position to say if you got it right. |
Special accommodations are made since TJ, unlike Langley, is a state Governor’s School. The TJ analogy is not a great argument. |
DP. Why is it that I never hear racist and classist things from anyone except the sjws? Have you learned nothing from last Tuesday? Your fringe. |
What I learned last Tuesday is that 99.9% of the complaints on this thread are absolutely not what we need to be worried about. |
Take it to the Politics forum. Everyday people will continue to have everyday concerns, and in Fairfax some of those concerns are due to the actions and behavior of the 12-0 Democratic School Board. |
Everyday concerns over boundary changes that haven't even been determined yet. So everyone can argue back and forth without anything to actual argue about. Sounds super productive. |
People plan ahead so they don’t have to scramble at inconvenient times. No one is forcing you to read the thread, so move on. |
Plan ahead based on rumors on a message board. That's a little frightening. |
DP. Plan ahead by getting information here and elsewhere and validating it. Frankly, there is a lot of money to be made or losses to avoid by anticipating what the school board is going to do. Like millions to be had by the disruptions and dislocalities that this will all cause. That’s not my interest in the space, but it’s available to anyone who wants to find the opportunities. |
' Message boards like this convey imperfect information, but they convey information that posters looking to plan ahead might not be able to so readily access elsewhere. You want the SB to be able to do whatever it wants with minimal scrutiny, whether in advance or after the fact. That's not going to happen. They are playing with fire and some of the branches are already lit. |
Plus we all know the avid supporters of redistricting on DCUM are likely gatehouse employees. Query whether they are violating the record keeping requirements of the job, but regardless, we get a lot of good intel by them being on this discussion board. |
Right? My kid has severe social anxiety and therapist said same thing. |
| Moving residences is also disruptive. This does not seem to be a logical solution. |
It is not the PUBLIC SCHOOL's system responsibility to deal with you or your child not being able to handle change. If anything they are forcing you to develop life skills that you will need to use multiple times throughout your life. |
No. The Shouse move to Langley will be fully implemented in SY2025-26. CIP SY2028-29 has Langley at 98% and that is before any changes from this process. The Langley location removes it from any logical change for receiving students from anywhere but Mclean HS except for the weird stuff along Route 7 that's at Marshall. That could end up at Madison or South Lakes? I have no clue. Meanwhile the sheer geographic scope of the Langley boundary includes Herndon addresses that vote at Herndon HS. Those households attend Forestville. https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/pdf/SY2024-2025Region1withSchoolLocations.pdf Forestville attendance area has many schools bordering it and one with a really funky map is Dranesville with a long tail. I have no clue on who will attend Dranesville ES which is being expanded to 1000 seats which includes a large addition but that addition including classrooms removes the large difference between design and program capacity. Lower class size ratios mean more classroom required at any site. . CIP FY2022-26: Dranesville ES design 1,008 program 834 |
