But I will take him over the modern left in a heartbeat.

You are an idiot if you think the modern left is a real threat right now and Trump is not. Idiot isn't a strong enough word for what you are.

Good Lord.

Sound argument. my whole worldview changed just by reading this post.

Can't wait for the BIG TRUMP WIN!!!!!

You have to wait until at least 2028 but even then, don't hold your breath.

Last time I checked he was president for four years and didn’t rule like Adolf Hitler. My goodness

Gore’s lawsuits had merit; there were well documented issues with some of the ballots; the margin of votes between Gore and Bush was extraordinarily close; Gore accepted the Court’s decision and encouraged others to do so; and he graciously attended Bush’s inauguration.

None of that is comparable to the way Trump handled his loss.

The two parties do lie equally, in terms of quantity of lies or illegality of lies or dangers posed by their lies.

But you already knew all of that. You’re just a liar.

Correctuion: the two parties do NOT lie equally

+100

I could’ve written this myself- ditto every word (except I voted for Obama both times).

Of course you could have written it yourself. You all just blindly regurgitate talking points.

He was still president for that January 6th utter traitorous nonsense. But you are correct, his overbearing trashing of women's rights happened after he had left his term.

Ok--just because he didn't kill 6 million Jews doesn't mean he didn't rule like Hitler---

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jun/03/donald-trump-hitler-similarities

"Trump made more than 30,000 false or misleading claims during his four years as president, according to a count by the Washington Post. Perhaps the most egregious is “the big lie” that he, not Joe Biden, won the 2020 presidential election, only for it to be stolen due to widespread fraud. De Berg writes in his book: “The idea behind the concept of the big lie is that if an untruth is sufficiently extreme, people are likely to accept it if only because they cannot bring themselves to believe that anyone could lie in such an outrageous manner.

“It was Hitler who came up with the concept, writing in Mein Kampf that ‘the great masses of the people … more easily fall victim to a big lie [große Lüge] than to a little one, since they themselves lie in little things, but would be ashamed of lies that were too big. Such a falsehood will never enter their heads, and they will not be able to believe in the possibility of such monstrous effrontery and infamous misrepresentation in others.’”

Seems like we can’t have a productive back and forth. Oh well. Positive vibes and if Kamala wins I wish her the best and life goes on.

That’s true, he did not. But it’s also true that he’s sounding more like Hitler all the time with his anti immigrant rhetoric about their supposed inferiority and how they taint our blood. Project 2025 is a handbook for Fascism. Trump has spoken about suspending the Constitution, being a temporary dictator and retribution. He’s gotten his followers imprisoned and his attorneys disbarred. He is very dangerous.

He imposed his extreme minority position regarding women's rights on this country and he also tried to throw out over 80 million votes and assume the presidency after he lost the election. Those are important and productive facts to point out.

Over 81 million sure do care. We did not waste our time going out to vote only to have some traitor try to throw our votes in the garbage.

In my years as a journalist I worked for ABC/ CBS/ CNN/ AP and Reuters. I’ve fact checked both sides but nothing I ever saw in the years before trump compared to his ability to flat out lie and that has only gotten worse in recent months. To me this makes him completely unfit to govern and I’m confused why others don’t feel the sam. What makes this excusable in folks minds I am intrigued?

I will never, ever vote for Trump but if the past six years or so has taught me anything, it’s that the Democrats lie as profusely and freely as the Republicans, and that the media (both mainstream and left/right) is utterly untrustworthy.

Lying troll.

I don’t think you’re correct. Most Americans love our country and were horrified by J6. It was a terrible day.

And Trump hid out. He did nothing while the Capitol was being attacked. Nothing. Most Americans are more courageous than that and would have taken action.

Most real Americans are still seething mad over J6. The only people who dont care are trumpers who don’t like to be reminded of their failure.

Which is frightening. Democracy doesn’t magically save us. People have to uphold it. Clean water, fast internet, and affordable healthcare and food aren’t a right. Not all citizens in our country or globally enjoy these. We have voted in government leaders who have tried to make our lives better.

The greatest gift George Washington gave us was to start a tradition of stepping down after 2 terms or a lost election. Also, a lot of Americans need to read up on Venezuela’s history.
