Republicans; how do you make peace with the volume of lies?

To answer the OP: My Trump-supporting SIL doesn't think the lies are lies! She is convinced that there's a great conspiracy out there that "we'll all find out about soon." I'm still waiting to learn all about Hilary's issues, the hair-raising stuff that was "all gonna' come out" as soon as the election was over. She also believes that the J6 protestors were Dems in disguise. Etc., etc., etc.
I've been forced to accept that there's an awful lot of people who truly believe all the crazy and think that it's sad that the rest of us aren't enlightened like they are. The sad thing is that after all of these years you have to wonder at their ability to still cling to the BIG THING that is going to be disclosed...it's coming...you won't believe what those Dems have been doing...we're all gonna' find out...it's INCREDIBLE...truly awful...and when they are ready you're gonna' be SHOCKED...

Last time I checked he was president for four years and didn’t rule like Adolf Hitler. My goodness

He was still president for that January 6th utter traitorous nonsense. But you are correct, his overbearing trashing of women's rights happened after he had left his term.

Most folks in US don't care about J6.

I don’t think you’re correct. Most Americans love our country and were horrified by J6. It was a terrible day.

And Trump hid out. He did nothing while the Capitol was being attacked. Nothing. Most Americans are more courageous than that and would have taken action.

I actually agree that a lot of people care about J6. But it isn't an event in a vacuum. I care about it but the subsequent Biden presidency and its failings has caused J6 to fall way way down. The border, soft crime policies, international turmoil, inflation. All of those things plus the incredible lies we were told about Biden's cognitive ability. Those things really dropped J6 down. And frankly, the lies and distortion about Biden, and the total lack of interest (or visibility) of Harris did not help them earn trust. So when I have to choose, I think about all the yuck from both sides. And yeah, my grocery bill is HUGE. I work for the federal government. Our pay increases have not kept up at all. So do I like J6? No. Bad day. But is that the defining issue for me? Not at all.

So are you planning ahead on how to handle what Trumpflation is going to do for your grocery bill? Tariffs on imported food is going to impact you.

Balance this against the lower prices from Trump's lowering energy costs. It was Biden's higher energy costs that sent food prices higher.

We care. A lot.

Very, very few people care about “J6.” It’s nowhere on the vast majority of people’s list of issues that are important to them in the upcoming election. If it is on your list, it’s a glaring signal that you are completely out of touch with kitchen table issues. Which, … you likely are. “But muh democracy!” you gasp, as you clutch your pearls. Yes, your democracy, which is currently seeking to install Harris. Mmhmm. Such concern. Very dangerous.

January 6th was one of the most shameful days in U.S. history. And you're officially (though anonymously) in support of that traitorous event. When you were growing up, did you ever think you'd become so anti-American?

Yes. I wonder the same thing. When all of you who think January 6th was fine, did you ever contemplate that you would be advocating for such an anti-American position? And you are good with that?

If you don't care about "J6" as you call it, then you have never studied history. It's almost cute how you are so ignorant to think a democracy can't fail.

How is Trump going to lower fuel prices? How is he going to lower other production costs?

Please explain what specific Trump policies led to lowering energy costs. Cite specific executive orders and/or GOP-sponsored legislation and explain their effect.

If you are confident that Trump himself lowered energy costs surely you must know the specifics. It's not like you'd just regurgitate FOX News and boomer facebook posts without actually understanding the sources behind them, right?

BLM was much worse, longer, more violent , more costly and more deadly.

He literally fomented a violent insurrection to attempt a coup and illegally retain power. The fact that he and his brownshirts were too incompetent to succeed doesn't change the fact that it happened.

They literally smeared s#*t on the US Capitol. They beat cops. They called for the hanging of the vice president.

People can convince themselves of whatever they need to in order to live with themselves — people always do. But these videos will live on, and what they show is not honor.

Agreed, these MAGACHUDS have no honor.

BLM was just blowing off some steam. No biggie. It’s just property and stuff according to the left. Insurance paid for it. You can’t reason with these people it’s all projection.

They're not remotely the same thing. But you're just going to use "waddabout?" as defense for your support for the traitorous January 6th day?

J6 dId not get trump any votes. It cost him votes. As did overturning Roe and other crap that involves trump SINCE the 2020 election. All he has done is lost support, not gain support.

He is going down. Start handing over your money so you can run that loser again in 2028.

Can you explain the comparison? Was that incited by a sitting president? It was during Trump's presidency, though. Who do you attribute the LA riots to?

Here's the difference between BLM and January 6th:

The much-derided quote about BLM was right. "The vast majority of protestors were peaceful." Yes, there was violence, looting, and arson that happened at demonstrations protesting police misconduct. Nobody denies that.

Here's the thing though, the vast, VAST majority of people at those protests were peaceful, did not incite any violence or property damage, and rightly condemned the violence and property damage. Furthermore, there was absolutely zero evidence that any of the people looting or starting fires were doing it in support of George Floyd or BLM. No evidence whatsoever that the violence, looting, and arson wasn't simply started by run of the mill criminals using large-scale peaceful protests for cover to commit run of the mill crime.

Now compare that to January 6th, where every. single. solitary. participant entered a secure government building illegally. Where every, single, solitary participant went there with either the specific intent of disrupting the certification of a free and fair election or with the intent of supporting someone who instructed them to do so. Where every single solitary participant had the opportunity to walk away from the Capitol lawn or steps before any crime was committed.

There is no comparison. While both involved property damage and violence, one was 99% peaceful protestors with zero intention of committing crime and the other was 100% without exception people actively committing crimes. One was a legal protest disrupted by outside agitators, and the other was an illegal insurrection committed entirely by willing traitors.

Both outcomes were unfortunate. Only one was completely intentional and preventable.
