A Harris/Hogan ballot is a vote for gridlock. It means you want a president who can't even get a hearing for anybody she might nominate for SCOTUS. |
People who are disconnected from state politics don't understand. Hogan is no an anti Trump. He may say he is but he is actually the "lipstick on a pig" version of Trump. I will give Hogan that he is against J6 and that makes him meet a very low standard of acceptability. But he is anti immigrant and quietly stokes hatred against immigrants just like the GOP (e.g. falsely claiming a school was not cooperating with police in regards to an alleged rape by undocumented students - school got death threats). He redirected state funding from mass transit in Baltimore to roads projects near his properties. He refused to send more covid vaccines to Montgomery County where there was demand for them. He spent millions on Covid tests from Korea that couldn't be used - without following basic rules for public spending (they had no written contract, no procurement process, no checking to see if they met fda requirements). Under his watch the GDP of Maryland did not grow one little bit (but his business made money). |
Some great and fair points you make. Maryland is one of the worst states to live in thanks to Hogan and PG County is one of the worst counties to live in thanks to Alsobrooks so please tell me how in the heck we wound up with these two political hacks as our major party state Senate seat options? It's as bad as our choice for POTUS. |
Hogan is married to an immigrant, you halfwit. Being concerned about violent crimes perpetrated by people here illegally is not “anti immigrant”. |
This is so quaint that anyone on the right would want to prosecute this, in light of the crimes being committed by right wing politicians and judges all of the time now. |
There are many anti-immigrant politicians married to immigrants... like former president Trump. |
Yet he is part of an anti-immigrant, even legal, party. |
Property values in Hyattsville and College Park suggest otherwise my friend |
Thanks for pointing out another similarity with Trump. We all know being married to an immigrant doesn't automatically make a person not hateful. And lying about a school not cooperating with police is not just unethical but also dangerous, as Rockville HS found out when someone threatened to come in and shoot all the "illegal" students (I'm going to take a wild guess they'd have shot anyone who looks brown and probably hit some white students in the process). |

You obviously don't live in PG County. PG County is very supportive of Alsobrooks and what she's done for our county in the last 6 years. I was a Republican when I voted for both of these individuals (now an Independent) and have lived in PG County for over 32 years now. Hogan was okay and was certainly better than the alternatives in his elections, but he was not nearly as good for MD as Alsobrooks was for PG. During Alsobrooks term, she continued to the cleanup of county government that discouraged Pay for Play and gave more accountability and required more transparency from politicians in Upper Marlboro. She cleaned up the police department and decreased corruption, racism and overspending. She continued improving the school district. New schools were built and low income schools were upgraded with new facilities. New charter programs were introduced benefitting more students. We used to be a box store and upper income wasteland for major businesses. We had several food desert areas. The county is now able to attract more businesses including supermarkets in lower income areas and businesses attracted to higher income customers. We no longer have to travel out of county to get better shopping and retail. Housing prices have been one of the highest improving in the Washington metropolitan area. The county had significant problems through the tenure of Jack Johnson. First Rushern Baker, and now Angela Alsobrooks have made significant improvements over the last 15 years. Many more improvements than MD saw under Hogan. |
You are responding to a sarcastic post, as is another below. |
+1 And not just SCOTUS, any judges at any level and any cabinet members. There’s a whole thread about this here: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1225656.page |
| I don't think anyone will bother with a Senate candidate when Obama had someone who deliberately dodged taxes as his Secretary of the Treasury. |

She kept paying the mortgage on an inherited house. If you don't buy a house in DC, you won't even know that you need to change the tax status. The mortgage servicer handles your property tax payments.
I'm assuming that an extended family member was living in the home after the grandparents passed, so Alsobrooks probably didn't even receive any tax notices. This really is a nothing burger. In terms of her PG County home, she's actually been overpaying her taxes because she didn't make her more expensive current house her "homestead." She's been getting the homestead benefit on a crappy townhouse. |
