I don't care because she is still better than Hogan. Why aren't you upset about trump never paying taxes?

Exactly. Republicans need to learn that there is almost nothing they can criticize Dems for anymore since Trump has probably already done whatever bad deed it was.

Someday soon when Republicans start putting principles over the party I will begin voting for perfection. Until then, holding onto the Senate by hook or crook is essential.

So Republican trolls can KMA!

Property taxes are pretty clear cut on what you need to do. Rich people taxes are purposely complex and opaque with drastically different books depending on your accountant. Everyone knows rich people built this system for their own benefit. Its a real gray area on what's "allowed" and what isn't.

We should make rich people taxes as simple as property taxes, but that will never happen for obvious reasons. Until then, hate the game not the playa.

The only thing I've heard from Hogan's campaign is Alsobrooks's tax error. Over and over and over again.
They have nothing.

The Maryland homestead tax credit was automatic for years until 2023. I know this because I stupidly ignored the mailer that went out that year that said you had to manually apply for it, and I got my @r$e kicked on my property tax bill - not only did I not get the tax credit I had been getting all these years, they recaptured it for the previous year. The County Executive explained that it was done because so many people had been getting the tax credit that shouldn’t have and it was a widespread problem. I bet many, many people had been wrongfully given the tax credit, which is why they changed the process.

This happened to us too. Give her the benefit of doubt

Did anyone see that the New York Times checked her mortgage application for the DC house and she fraudulently claimed that she would live in it as her primary residence for a year?

Crazy that she was doing that as States Attorney.

Even crazier that Mosby lied on her mortgage docs and got a conviction. Alsobrooks did the same thing and she’s going to get a Senate seat.

Alsobrooks is looking more and more like a hot mess.

Do politicians not run oppo-research on themselves anymore? This seems like something that would come up with a cursory look.

She’s only had to run one competitive election in her life and that was a low turnout Democratic primary for County Executive a decade ago.

Alsobrooks isn't all that strong of a candidate and obviously she has some baggage that calls her integrity into question but with the balance of the Senate up for grabs, I feel I have no choice but to give her chance. For future reference, the Dem party needs to do a better job vetting their candidates before they run on the national stage because the baggage is going to come out and you need it out before it is too late to switch candidates.

It's crazy that Mosby got railroaded like that for a minor civil infraction. Donald Trump does worse fraud and theft every week

You were going to vote Hogan because you are a Republican. It is okay to be that. Sucks for minorities but you do you.

Look, I'm a loyal PG county resident that will vote for Alsobrooks, but that's not completely true.

Yes, her homestead exemption mistake in MD cost her money, but by forgetting to remove the senior and homestead exemptions on her grandparents home in DC when she inherited it, saved her about $16K in taxes over the time she owned it. She's going to pay it back, but that did save her a significant amount in taxes over the years.

It will end up costing her a lot in interest and penalties

Penalties are waived for people who accept judgement and agree to pay. This concept (accepting a government judgement, and paying debts) seems hard for Republicans to understand.

I agree with you but MD Democrats don’t care about this stuff, even when it has national ramifications for the reputation of the Democratic Party nationally.
