The folks who claim Alsobrooks screwing up her taxes so they will vote for Hogan are so disingenuous - she paid more in taxes due to her mistake. She cheated no one but herself.

You were going to vote Hogan because you are a Republican. It is okay to be that. Sucks for minorities but you do you.

Look, I'm a loyal PG county resident that will vote for Alsobrooks, but that's not completely true.

Yes, her homestead exemption mistake in MD cost her money, but by forgetting to remove the senior and homestead exemptions on her grandparents home in DC when she inherited it, saved her about $16K in taxes over the time she owned it. She's going to pay it back, but that did save her a significant amount in taxes over the years.

What good impact has she made in pg county? Schools are still trash, low test scores, crime still is high.

I’m voting for her

As a resident of PG County, I can tell you that while schools are still mediocre, they are improving. I know many students in PG County schools who are getting a good education. There are still issues, but the schools are better now than they have been in years.

Crime is only high in the inside-the-beltway subsection of the county. For the majority of the county that is outside the beltway, crime is comparable to the other beltway counties. And Alsobrooks has made an impact there by supporting local law enforcement and replacing many ineffective leaders in both the school system and the police department.

At first I thought it was an anti-Alsobrooks ad, but then I was confused. A politician admitting her mistake and accepting the penalty. Sounds...fine?

It will end up costing her a lot in interest and penalties

If the property didn't change ownership on the deed, and it's grandma who moved, I would think Grandma/her POA would be the one who needed to make the changes for the homestead and senior exemption. Alsobrooks assumed the mortgage payments, but did she have any authority to notify DC?
