You are about 15 years and 2 county execs behind. Prior to 2010, the county had a bad crime record. Since 2010, the last two county executives have worked very hard to decrease the crime in the county and they have been very successful. With the exception of a small poor area inside the beltway, the county has crime statistics very much on a par with most of the rest of the beltway counties in Washington DC. The people still talking about the county having a lot of crime are predominantly people who have not heard about or visited the county in the last 15 years and still go by old history. |

You are very mistaken. Prince George's County is a county that is the second largest county in MD. It has about 50 towns and incorporated areas and has a population of over 960,000. As another PP pointed out, it has more residents than Wyoming, Vermont, Alaska, North and South Dakota. She has more experience than the governors of those states. She is a 2 term county executive who has been in office for 6 years. She has a lot more relevant political experience than many first time senators including the man who is currently running for VPOTUS. |

on one hand crime is up but she did defund the police so that’s good. It’s important that we support equitable investment that focus on the root causes of systemic racism and she does exactly that. Everyone has to suffer a little bit before it gets better and no one is perfect.
It is important that County Executive Alsobrooks is taking these steps to decriminalize the youth by cutting the HUGE police budget to a more bare minimum 9-5 type department. Remember, just like she put it so amazingly, more cops doesn’t always make streets safer! Proving this, while her county has made HUGE progress defunding the police and allowing the money to go into communities, the crime is very minimal. Less than a thousand homicides in the ENTIRE YEAR of 2023! I think she has a strong vision. Who cares if she cheats a little tax |

I agree! We all have a role to play against the cruelties of racism, and the racist nature of bail reform is unbelievable. Why must INNOCENTS be kept locked up in jails? And releasing them right after catching will not lead to more crime because everyone will learn their lesson compassionately. People will always show up to their trial and take responsibility when More counties take prince george county’s example. She is a strong leader. Despite all the societal progress, carjackings have only increased a little (5x since pandemic, but pandemic had no crime because everyone was in the basement). and this explains the homicides too Because even the gold standard cities like Chicago have a couple thousand homicides, alsobrooks has done amazing keeping prince george homicides below 1k FOR A WHOLE YEAR. I think it’s amazing the work she’s doing and hope she keeps up the fight for equity and justice for all |
