Alsobrooks illegally took advantage of, among other things, tax breaks for "lower income residents and senior citizens". Really? |
| Shocking. Simply shocking. Although looking at her she does look like a senior citizen. |
|
Awesome! I’m voting for her anyway. Sounds like she took Trump Lessons if that’s even true…

It’s not really the Gotcha you think it is.
The Maryland homestead tax credit was automatic for years until 2023. I know this because I stupidly ignored the mailer that went out that year that said you had to manually apply for it, and I got my @r$e kicked on my property tax bill - not only did I not get the tax credit I had been getting all these years, they recaptured it for the previous year. The County Executive explained that it was done because so many people had been getting the tax credit that shouldn’t have and it was a widespread problem. I bet many, many people had been wrongfully given the tax credit, which is why they changed the process. |
Did you read the article? Her grandparents owned the DC property before she did and were eligible for the senior property tax break. She would have had to proactively contact DC to have that removed, that’s a detail I think a lot of people would miss. |
What about the four other exemptions? Notably claiming DC resident status when she was the prince county exec (hint: not in DC), she rented out a home she listed as her primary residence for tax purposes, the list goes on and on… |
| Her cheating on her DC property tax liability is particularly egregious, claiming a tax credit that her deceased relatives qualified for after they passed. That’s like continuing to cash social security checks after a relative dies. If you or I did this, we’d be in prison and hit with massive judgements. |
Miscategorizing expenses on your tax return is not the same thing as committing fraud, which is what Alsobrooks did. She knew her grandparents were dead. That wasn’t debatable. Trump was given shady tax advice by his accountant who served prison time for his bad advice. Trump is not a CPA. Apples and oranges. But facts aside, keep voting along party lines. We are basically Columbia anyway. |
| Cheating on your taxes? Why would any republican be against this. For republicans this is like peanut butter and jelly or worshiping Putin. |
Trump pays no taxes. Makes no difference time as she has my vote. |
You Democrats really are obsessed with Trump, aren’t you? My favorite was when she tried to equivocate Hogan not selling his house while he was governor. That’s just sad. |
Hogan is a crook https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/01/hogan-accused-of-mixing-family-business-with-road-projects.html |

Remember that whoever you end up voting for, you can always split your ballot!

WTAF????
How is this JUST coming out NOW????? Seriously, WTF……ugh. This is bad. |
so what? She is a crooked politician; just like the rest of them. Did you expect something different? You aren't going to find pure and righteous in a GOP or Dem candidate. I'd still vote for her over Trump any day. Hogan is probably a better person and better lawmaker but I can't find myself voting to add a GOP member to the Senate due to the more deeply failed state of the current GOP party. |
