Trump leading Biden in VA...What's going on?

See: Youngkin.

Youngkin only got in due to decreased Dem turnout, not a red wave for him. It was around the time of the gender-nonconforming student having his rape of a female student covered up in Loudoun County, and the dad getting arrested in front of the school board. Youngkin drummed up outrage and blamed Democrats for causing this, while the Dem candidate gave a very milquetoast response in return. People didn't feel motivated to go out and support him, so Youngkin slunk in.

The FCPS and Loudoun County school boards are not helping Biden’s cause at all.

Your flaming can't change my mind so don't even bother.

Well, kiss Democracy and our country as we know it goodbye. It was a nice run but,it will be over if he gets elected.

Here's what one democrat thinks about your pathetic likely candidate.

So you would rather vote for an old con man, over a regular old guy. Got it.

For the last two elections I found it tough to select between someone whose positions (or at least whose professed party’s positions) I generally tend to support but who as an individual I believe to be a terrible person and an embarrassment to our country (Trump) versus someone whose positions and those of their party I tend to firmly oppose but who as an individual I believe to be a generally well meaning and mentally stable person. (Biden)

Now that Biden has been pretty firmly demonstrated to lack the capacity to lead and represent our country I find both candidates fundamentally unacceptable so my decision reverts back to my policy preferences between the two parties.

Emerson Polling released a poll showing Trump ahead by 2 points: https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4778304-donald-trump-joe-biden-virginia/

I live in Maryland (Frederick County) and I know Maryland is safe blue, although Frederick will probably go red this year due to it's conservative roots and the national political environment.

Anyone on the ground in VA know what's going on?

Stop just stop

Trump is losing turn off Fox and cnn

Gas lights period full stop

You know the democrats are in full on panic mode when they start equating CNN with Fox.

Virginia voters are fickle and not too liberal. In Burke there is little enthusiasm for him here.

Trump won't come close to winning Fairfax but I'm wondering what the margin will be. I could see Trump narrowly losing a few precincts here. Clifton is definitely going Trump this year.

If VA goes Trump, it will be because of a turnout/margin collapse in Nova. All Trump has to do is hit at least 42% in Loudoun and it's ballgame in VA.

AND op asked: "Anyone on the ground in VA know what's going on?"

Yes, the left has gone way toooo far left in VA. It's turning off both moderates and dems. Plus no one wants to vote for biden he's a senile corpse as PP has already said.

IMO dems have spend the last 6-8 years embarrassing themselves and turning dems voters off.

Yeah, but I’d vote for a stinky pile of doodoo over DJT.

The race will tighten up by Election Day. Not putting much credence in polls 3+ months out.

Biden will eak out a very narrow victory in the state. Trump gets insane rural margins and the suburbs underperform for Democrats across the board.

Biden only wins the state due to him winning Fairfax with 60% of the vote. Trump will get 35% in Fairfax, 40% in Prince William, and 45% in Loudoun.

Yeah as a Marylander, I've always though VA voters were reactionary and stubbornly independent. The state is dumb and Republicans have decent appeal there.

Hahaha, it's not like sleepy Don is any better. How many times did he fall asleep during the convention or his trials? How many times has he suggested that we should look up to Hannibal Lecter? He's so confused, he has no idea what he's saying. Get all these grandpas out of the race and start fresh!

NoVa is also very diverse-it might be selection bias but I know back in the day, Arabs moved there, jewish people to MD and even now there are large immigrant communities in nova who will never vote for Biden b/c he's a racist who lies to their face. trump & vance's racism is blatant and they own it and thus those voters won't vote for either one. some might vote to see usha break that barrier though. Biden doesnt feel pain and anguish when he's sees mangled brown children's bodies and that bothers all brown people.

I didn't read all of the responses, but I question the validity of polls. My brother, who follows these things much more closely than I do, said the polling is landline-based, and younger people don't have landlines, so large swaths of the population will not be polled. Personally, I am heartened by the fact that the hard right didn't make as much progress in India, France, Italy (?) this year, despite predictions.
