Poll after poll this year has shown a closer than expected race for president in Virginia. It surprises me since VA voted for Biden by 10 points in 2020. Biden carried it with 54% of the vote while Trump received 44% of the vote.
Emerson Polling released a poll showing Trump ahead by 2 points: https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4778304-donald-trump-joe-biden-virginia/ I live in Maryland (Frederick County) and I know Maryland is safe blue, although Frederick will probably go red this year due to it's conservative roots and the national political environment. Anyone on the ground in VA know what's going on? |
| It’s a candidate running against a senile corpse. Very simple. |
|
Independents and others lost confidence in Biden campaign because of concerns important info was concealed.
Past record not seen as indicator of future performance. |

Virginia is backwater, that's why. The result in 2020 was the peak of VA Dems. Since then they have lost the governorship, lieutenant governorship, and attorney general position. They rebounded some in 2022 and 2023 but the overall popular vote was single digits.
The Dems control the house and senate by 1 seat in each chamber, it really shouldn't be surprising that the state is open to voting Republican this year. |

Hahaha, it's not like sleepy Don is any better. How many times did he fall asleep during the convention or his trials? How many times has he suggested that we should look up to Hannibal Lecter? He's so confused, he has no idea what he's saying. Get all these grandpas out of the race and start fresh! |
+1000 AND op asked: "Anyone on the ground in VA know what's going on?" Yes, the left has gone way toooo far left in VA. It's turning off both moderates and dems. Plus no one wants to vote for biden he's a senile corpse as PP has already said. IMO dems have spend the last 6-8 years embarrassing themselves and turning dems voters off. |
FYI "sleepy don" only sleeps from 2-4 am. |
| The Trumpies are motivated to go out to the polls and vote for him again, because they think they're avenging him for having the crooked deep state qanon vaccine chip swamp steal the election in 2020. Why are they voting again if they think the election was stolen? Who knows. But they're very motivated. Do you feel EXCITED to go out on a Tuesday evening in the cold and stand in line at a crowded elementary school for Joe Biden? Are you counting the days thinking about it? Most people aren't politically aware enough to know about Project 2025, or even what the Heritage Foundation is. They don't have a compelling internal reason to inconvenience themselves for Joe Biden, and will stay home. |

Whether sleepy Don is or is not better isn't the point.
People who are for Trump are even more so. People who were for Biden, some are losing interest and may not even be likely voters. People who wanted NOT TRUMP don't think Biden can beat him so why bother. That is why Dems need new candidates now. At least voter turnout will drop less. As it's going, people won't show up to vote and thus won't vote for D House or Senate candidates. Triple disaster. Thanks, corrupt Biden machine. |
| Outside of wealthy NOVA, families in the rest of the state are significantly worse off than they were four years ago. That’s what the elite media and party officials don’t see every day. The national democrats can scream “abortion” until the cows come home. But it means little to the family that can no longer have the dignity to take their kids on a summer vacation or go to a modest restaurant for a meal. |

I'm not voting for the dead guy I can tell you that. Voting for the guy who walked off a bullet and doesn't hide in his basement is looking better and better everyday.
Your flaming can't change my mind so don't even bother. |
The problem is that it has to be Kamala. And she owns all of the failures of this administration, especially the border. |
Ahhh plus no one likes her at all! |
Voting for a lot of people isn't about a policy or issue, it's if they can tell a cool story about it. 'I voted for the first Black president, I voted for the first woman to be nominated, I voted for a reality show star to become president, I voted to evict Trump from the White House.' That's why there was a blue wave in 2022, people wanted to vote against the abortion banners. What is the compelling story for Democrats? I really think Whitmer should've primaried Biden. It's the only way dems will maintain Michigan. |
