I live in North Arlington, trust me when I tell you this happens here, too. If you're not cute and white and blonde, you're not part of the bus stop crew. Your kid might be invited to the bus stop end of year party, but you will be largely ignored.

I think you will find this phenomenon in any upwardly mobile, majority white suburb. I'm in one myself and I consider it a suburban hellscape. I often keep to myself, befriend the more normal minority/immigrants, avoid the gossip, and am nice but not overly social. It gets better as the kids get older and you don't need to socialize as much. I can't wait to leave when the kids go off to college.

This makes me a lot happier about my community. All of the moms are mostly Indian and most of them group together, but we still smile at each other and talk from time to time. I don’t think they’re gossiping about me or other moms! There are a few other non Indian moms (three or so) and we also chat from time to time but we aren’t friends. I try to suggest group activities so our kids can go to same camp, sport. That’s basically all we talk about. Me and one other mom who is European are the only white moms. I guess living in an immigrant community has its perks. Being super close to the neighbors can get very awkward if there is a clash. We live in townhouses so we are all super close to each other.
