You must be new to politics. How much of a primary was there on the Republican side in 2020? |
Fully agree. Lifelong Dem |
|
The Dems need to groom the next generation of leaders asap. We need 30 somethings to be recruited and mentored for public service. We need 40 somethings to be ready for the big league so we have good options when it’s time for the next primary.
The ideal presidential candidate is 45-60 (with 60 pushing it when you think about the ideal scenario is a year of campaigning followed by 8 years of leadership). The metric should be intelligence coupled with charisma and gravitas. We need someone fast on their feet who exudes confidence backed up by intellect and a strong moral compass. Recognizing that everyone will be put through the wringer and ultimately must win a popularity contest, we must abandon the identity politics approach of selecting candidates based on gender or skin color. |
A senile old man seems harsh but he's definitely lost a step or two. In Trump's case he's a criminal but a delusional one at best. Nothing he says is remotely true. He does not have a firm grip on reality and seems mentally unbalanced. |
Me too! I've never voted for a Republican even. I like Joe but if he cares about this country's future, he needs to step aside. |
Oooh, because you rhymed - definitely! |
I am also a lifelong democrat who voted for Nikki Haley in the republican primary. My first ever vote cast for a republican. And if she had won the nomination, I'm positive I would have voted for her over Biden. But, if the democrats put forth any of the other candidates that have mentioned, I would vote for that person over any republican. |
First, the man you are calling senile is not, in fact senile. So your choice is between an old man, and an old man who wants to be a dictator. Choose wisely. |
There are plenty of next gen: Kamala Bashear Whitmer (there are actually 4-5 from Michigan) Wes Moore Newsome Jeffries Those alone wopuld all make fine candidates now, in 2028 or 2032 (assuming we still have elections) There are a ton of GenZ who are already very politically active, articulate, smart and ready for service. |
I also voted for Haley, but there's no way I'd vote for any Republican for President right now considering what their Supreme Court Justices are doing - not to mention the lower courts. I can't stress this enough - if you are a "lifelong Democrat" you MUST vote for the Democratic nominee for President for no other reason than his/her power to affect the judiciary. |
| I’m a lifelong Repub and can’t believe my party selected a lying felon. I can’t vote red this time. |
No worries. You never did! |
All complaining does is help Trump. I am also furious with the democratic party for getting us into this situation, from choosing Biden in the first place and Kamala as VP, to Biden himself for running again. But I recognize that Biden is actually not that bad - his record is not awful, nearly everything people are unhappy with is fallout from Trump's presidency, and he at least tries to do the job well and surrounds himself with really good, competent people. Compare to a dictator wanna-be who is incompetent, lazy, and narcissistic, and who doesn't give a damn about the country. This is a no-brainer. |
I agree with this but not all the billionaires are right-wing. However the left-wing ones are also extremely toxic. It’s an oligarchy no matter what. |
Oh come on. The gaslighting is unreal. Of course Biden is senile. Anyone with an elderly relative with dementia recognizes it. |
